I asked my housekeeper and she said the new one looks like a ss sub date with a blue bezel. She has a stainless steel sub date so she knows.

I am obsessed with this watch. AND, it is one of those rare Rolexes that you can find below retail in the secondary markets.

This is because the retail price, I feel, is grossly overpriced. A dive watch in white gold is something I'm not sure anyone asked for, and at it's current price point retail, there are many many many other options you can go to.

That's the problem. Every time I feel like I'm ready to pull the trigger, I see another watch in the $40k range and think....hmmm...maybe not.

Stealth?

I thought moped bandits just looked for a cyclops, driving loafers and Hawaiian shirts to find a mark.

In all seriousness know your surroundings.

If used market pricing is a big concern, I would pass on the watch. Too much money if it's not a watch you love and want to wear. The notion it can't be a daily is silly. Once you wear it for a day or two you won't even know you have it on. Rugged as any of them. PCL will show marks no matter the metal and how carefully you wear the watch.

As an owner, I have to agree. But I am a one watch guy, I don't wear dress watches, the Sub is my favorite watch and I wanted a gold watch. It's the perfect watch for me. My dream watch. If it doesn't tick all those boxes for someone there are way better ways to spend $40k.

Well Russ is hard to take out of my head the one watch concept and the WG Sub would be one of the 2 options would consider (second one is WG BLRO in any of its 3 flavors)

Awe, man....the WG BLRO with the blue dial is absolute fire!

If I wasn't a Sub guy, that's probably the one I'd own. Unless I was a Daytona guy in this alternate universe....then I'd have the WG blue dial.

Amazing watch, and highly recommended. I also owned the Smurf, and much prefer the newer version. The tapered 41mm case is a lot nicer, IMHO, and I love the black/blue contrast. The weight is a pro, not a con. You get used to it and then end up craving it. Tough to go back to SS.

That said, I'd definitely recommend trying it on before purchasing, of course.

Presumably the OP is asking if this watch would a good watch to try and flip. I would suggest not - unlikely to make a profit

I really like this watch. The only problem is the 116619 lb is even better!

This forum is great and thank you all for the great posts!

How rare is it for an AD to be calling about this model- will it appear again or really hard to find still?

I had the same dilemma a couple of months ago and passed. I really wanted to love it as like the idea of white gold stealth but just couldn’t love the shade of blue and wasn’t prepared to spend that much on a watch I didn’t love.

If you love the watch then buy it. I would buy from the AD at retail but on the basis that you could get a desirable SS off the back of it.

Absolutely love mine. One of the most understated watches you can wear.

I love the other variants as well. The all yellow gold version is a great summer watch and I'm probably in the minority here when I say the blue dial sits well on the yellow gold version. The black dial on this makes the blue pop more which gives it an allure of its own.

As an aside, if it continues to sell for under retail, don't be surprised if Rolex discontinues it next March.

Sounds cynical but I wouldn't put it past them.

I am happy with my old version, but would gladly own the new one as well.
Bought mine grey BNIB before the craziness MSRP -30%.

The 116619 has the better, more reliable, movement and I like the matching blue bezel and dial.

Can’t go wrong, both are nice

I would absolutely not buy a watch I am not over the moon with. You seem a bit indifferent so I’d hold off.

Maybe, but prior to 2017, I remember the Smurf and solid white gold Pepsi sitting in display cases for basically years without selling, and they never discontinued either of them. In both ADs near my home, they just sat there forever. I was living up in PA at that time.

If you had to choose one between the YG and WG, which are you choosing and why?

I've never liked colored bezels on the Submariner (neither green, nor blue), so I wouldn't spend $40k on it.
I own watches that are even more expensive than the WG Sub LB, but they are watches that I don't regret buying.

i was offered one recently and passed. it looks like the stainless steel version except for the blue bezel. i just couldn't justify spending an additional $30,000 over ss
