My neighbor owns a TT sub bluesy and when I first saw it a few years ago, I was spellbound. I like most of the sport models.

The "bluesy," two-tone blue face Submariner. We knew 3 different people with that watch, and my husband and I drooled every time we saw it.
I had originally hoped to buy the TT blue face ladies' Yachtmaster, because of the color scheme. The Yachtmaster is the only "professional" line Rolex makes in a ladies' size. I ended up not caring for the blue face TT YM when I tried it on, but saw the platinum/SS Yachtmaster, and fell in love with it. My husband now has the black face TT Submariner. |

Several years ago, I lived in San Diego and would wander into the Bailey, Banks & Biddle to gape at a simple SS Date with a slate dial. For almost a year I dreamed of owning that timepiece and finally made the purchase - that was 6 Rolexes ago.

Back in the early '70s I would skim through National Geographic and TIME magazines just to catch glimpses of Rolex ads.
The one I would always drool over would be the TT Black Sub ads. At that time, affordability was the biggest criteria, but I did get my first Rolex in 1980 and eventually my first TT BLACK SUB from Hong Kong in 1994. JJ

I would say the Submariner and the Day Date. My uncles, three of them had Rolex Day Date watches, when I was a kid. So I knew of Rolex because of that watch. However I think the Submariner was the one that really stopped me in my tracks.
I very nearly bought one back in 1999 or so. I was trying to mentally pull the trigger on such a large purchase. I had never bought anything that expensive before, on a credit card no less, which I planned on paying off within sixty days. Well my brother was standing there and nagging me like a nightmare wife from the worst marriage you have ever seen. He wanted to go eat and pick up his girlfriend or something. At any rate, I took the salesman's business card and left the shop if only to get rid of my brother for the evening. A week later my mother's car needed the transmission rebuilt, and that took up a large chunk of my savings. Then a few other things went wrong. Life happens. So ten years later I am still in the pursuit of my first Rolex. Life is still happening to me! I will get there and appreciate it all the more for the waiting I have endured. I think the waiting and the yearning for anything in life is what makes it worth having and keeping. If it all came easy we wouldnt appreciate it near as much right? |

When I finally made up my mind to splurge on a Rolex, my AD showed me many models. All were great looking but due to budgetery issues, I was keen on buying an entry level Rolex - until I saw midsize TT blue dial Yachtmaster - my eyes popped out. This meant I had to pay more. I returned after a month with my savings. It was still in the showcase. Today, I own it. I think it is the best Rolex in my collection so far.

The 16613, I saw it first when I was making a collage for a school project at the age of 14. I cut it out of a National Geographic and it joined the collage

The 16710 GMT Master II was the first one that caught my eye. By the time I could afford to buy one it was a toss up between the 16710 & the IIC. The IIC won that round handily when I had the opportunity to try them on side by side.
Now I have my 1675 as well and my wish list would include: 1675 PCG gilt w/ chapter ring 6542 bakelite 1675 square crown guard w/ small GMT hand 1680 'Red' Guess I'm still heavily GMT oriented...

my dads YG DD when I was around 8 years old. I got my 1st (oyster date) when I was 13 but my true passion for the brand arose when they first introduced the Submariner LV. I always said I will buy that Rolex. Here I am after just purchasing my GMT IIC and still looking to buy a Submariner LV.
