This is a quote I recently received from RSC NYC to overhaul an early 80's sub.$2100 for the movement overhaul alone. AND the watch was running fairly well... not like it was severely damaged needing many parts. Perhaps it varies per watch or per RSC.

Yeh they want to restore it to how it was when new. That's Rolex.

My 2 cents:
If one would handle his car like his watch I am 100% sure the costs for restoring the dents, restoring the paintwork, new windscreen, etc. of the exterior would be percentage wise much higher than a rolex worn for maybe 20 years which needs some refinishing of the case, a new bezel and inlay and a bracelet. |

They are starting to redistribute parts accounts to independents now. Also it doesn’t matter anymore when it comes to 1500 caliber movements. Rolex doesn’t have those parts anymore either. Stopped production on them a few years ago. Most independents know where to find them and or recondition original parts. RSC will likely not do this and or is just using up the last of their supplies. The 400 crown cost is for a 703 crown. Which actually might not even be period correct for the watch (could be 702). So it is what it is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That is the same price I was quoted for movement service of my 1675/3 at the beginning of this year at the West Los Angeles RSC. Can I send it to you next time Bas? Hahahahhaha!

It certainly would be complete nonsense to only supply parts for the 1500 to EU and not USA. But who knows... Rolex does often do the unexplainable...

It is most likely Rolex USA that just doesn't import the 1500 parts. I have no problem here in Sweden getting my 1500-movement watches serviced at an RSC.

Umm the quote you have posted at the top of page 2 of this thread is for Rolex USA to undertake a service on a calibre 1520, no?

Yes and their rational for the higher cost of service is that parts are no longer available so whatever parts are used are essentially coming from an emptying reserve... As pointed out above, it could be this only applies to US based parts account holders and RSC's

The funny thing to me was and is that when i dropped and damged my watch the dial was scratched. I tried to source a dial and when I did find one they well over 1500 usd. My local AD quoted 400 usd. More modern cheaper but why were they do expensive from the greys?

Recently paid £650 (UK) for servcie on a 2014 Submariner, very happy as its now running at -1 second after 14 days. Bought grey and it was +8 seconds per day, returned to seller and it came back +15 per day. Price of the watch and service still less than average market price and I now have a Rolex 2 year warranty so whilst not cheap I am pleased with the result

Thats 25% the value of the watch, which is a tad high for most Rolex overhauls I've had done. If you take it to the RSC, they will restore it completely with all the right parts, and include any upgrades to that particular movement. Despite a lot of the stuff you may read on watch forums, overall Rolex does the best job out there on their watches and if anything is wrong they stand by their work. You'll basically get a new watch back, and it should be accurate as they spend a week testing and regulating the watch. It will also be tested to be completely waterproof to a standard most independents aren't equipped to do. If you care about the watch, this is an easy decision.

I was charged the same amount for base service on a 16600 in 2012, and 2021 for the same watch; 800 plus parts exchanged with a Rolex authorized service provider using OEM parts.

Does someone knows how much is RSC charging currently for servicing Tudor Date Days (ETA 2834-2 movement)?

These prices seem really high.
The Finnish Rolex Service Center quoted me 200 Euros for a full DD service. |

Just handed over my 1996 Submariner to Herndon Watch Repair in Herndon, Virginia. It was not running properly anymore. The guy (Dung Lam) has a stellar rep and he gets customers from all over the east coast. Let's see what he can do for his basic charge of $750.
Will send an update in a few weeks after I pick it up. .

I’ve told this, and might again because I think it’s surprising to say the least.
I have a friend who recently sent his TT Yacht Master to Dallas RSC. It needed service, plus more as it’s a hard worn watch. First, they refused service unless he replaced the bracelet, which was pretty bad to be fair, but they quoted him a huge price for everything needed. So….for a Crown, Tube, Crystal, Overhaul, and new bracelet, they said $7600 for the full job. Eight to ten weeks return time.

My preferred watchmaker’s base rate is $750, that seems to be the average I see.

What Rolex will have said is they are unable to guarantee the security of the watch or the integrity while the current bracelet is fitted. |
