I don't think so. There's room in every collection for both imo.

This is why I’ve been on the fence for so long. Good opinions on both sides.
Still stuck on the fence….. |

Good perspective and I thought about this too…. Hard thing is that one of my “wants” with this next piece is to be my travel “go anywhere do anything” watch. I feel the green bezel is a bit loud for that, hence opting for a black sub. But of course am worried about it overlapping too much with my BLNR and then not getting much of any wrist time |

Is having a stainless sub too similar to a gmt BLNR?

Sounds like you already made up your mind. But I have both and it’s a non-issue for me. They get equal wrist time. Not sure if it will help, but here’s a side-by-side of the two together. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don't think they are too close to own both. One is a GMT and the other a diver.

Not too similar.
I think they go great together. We want what we want. Remember, there are collectors that own Subs and only Subs. Dozens of Subs! |

For me personally….black sub and BLNR…too similar. I’d go TT, PM, or green bezel sub.

Not with your BLNR on jubilee. A Sub is a different animal on brushed oyster.

A Rolex diver wears quite a bit differently for me. Especially if you go with the Submariner and not the Submariner date

I’m really surprised so many people are saying a Sub and a bi-color GMT are too similar. I think they are wildly different for anyone at a deep enough level of watch collecting to be on a watch forum.

I don't think so. Two different watches with different bracelets. Most collectors have or strive to have both watches.

For me it would have to be the No date, otherwise they are too similar.

The similarities are dial, hands, and case shape while bracelet (J vs O), bezel color, and function are different.
Having said that I have a BLNR, a Hulk, and a Sub ND 41, all of which I enjoy wearing and each watch has different character on the wrist. |

IMO they're very different, if you get the right combination of models |

Have had a no date sub for little over a year and recently got a Pepsi on jubilee and absolutely think they're different enough. I've recently put the sub on a rubber b strap and now they're even more different.

Yes the BLRO is more different. The question is the BLNR which has 50% of the same black bezel color.

I have a GMT LN and an SD43, which are closer than a Sub and BLNR, especially the BLNR on Jubilee, IMO.
But if you want a diver and are concerned about redundancy, look to a different brand, Glashutte divers are outstanding, or a Fifty Fathoms (even the Bathyscape). I love my SD43 and wouldn’t change it, but I sometimes wish I had appreciated the GO more before buying it. |

Very different, due to the bracelet. The jubilee and the brushed oyster each have their own character. It's a good variety in my opinion.

If you go for a No date sub or the LV, they are a perfect pair one to the other (especially if the BLNR is on jubilee).
I am actually starting to consider adding the BLNR and I have the 124060 and the TT CHNR. |

Explorer 1? The GMT, Sub, Seadweller, Yachtmaster are all the pretty close to the aame watch. I think the Explorer or OP would be a better complement.

“Watch People” notice they are different. I understand how the bezels could look similar in different lighting but with the GMT on a jubilee, having an additional blue GMT hand and being a 40mm as opposed to a 41 there are noticeable differences. The green bezel is definitely a stunner but in my opinion is hard to wear for all occasions as the black bezel no date sub. It literally goes with every color no matter what you are wearing.

I have a BLNR (on oyster) and an 114060 among other watches. Having both are perfectly fine in a collection, and both get the most wrist time in my collection.

Too similar for me, the BLNR left the collection as a result. The Sub is more useful for me as a daily watch.
