I like to take care of my stuff, treat it well and hopefully it serves me well back... that's why I save my Hublot for knocking about in, it's a £5k watch compared to a Rolex £20k or Patek at £40k etc...

Wife beats the living sh*t out of her 1990s DJ36 and it's fine. Personally use the CHRN, and at times SkyD Blue, as daily beaters and they're fine. Come to think about it, other than the Everose DD40 and Everose Daytona, all the other Rollies are treated like true beaters and used for off-road bicycling, kiteboarding, etc and have been fine.

Wife does Zumba, pool exercising and other fitness stuff. She loves the beach / waves, etc. We had matching Pateks a few years ago (5167 for me and the smaller 'grenade dial' women's version with mechanical movement for her) and she felt the Patek was too fragile. Her old DJ36 #winning Just last night we were discussing how she is a true 'durability tester' and watch companies should send her timepieces to test

Maybe its just the lightness of the watch vs. others (Royal Oak, etc.), but I just don't find myslef comfortable wearing these during sport

Patek make ‘sports watches’ for people that can afford to service them (and who do service them) regularly. They are not designed for a hard life lived on the edge. |

Yes, but then they say in the user's manual they recommend if you take the watch underwater to have it pressure checked annually. No thanks. I will just keep mine above water.

The movement can take a lot but not as much as a Rolex. The real issue is the scratch factor. I hate big scratches it dings and a PP is much more likely to get these than a Rolex as the Rolex steel is more resistant to both than a PP.

every Professional is a sports watch but not every sports watch is a professional model A DJ/DD and a Nautilus (or aquanaut) is a more fair comparison as they are both sports watches vs a Sub (professional) and a Nautilus (sport) for example... if you want to get more into apples to apples as most often people compare a sub designed for professional divers to an aquanaut designed as a less formal, casual, leisure watch that you can wear in the water. Hate the name "sports" as IMO it means less formal (sports jacket) not doing "sports" Also finishing/scratching etc isn't damage and not related to robustness.

I've hiked, skied, snowmobiled, gardened, buried my dog, fished with a 5066a over the last twenty years. It's got a lot of war scars. Sure, the rotor-pin detached, but Patek fixed the movement good as new.
It's not a G-shock, or a Rolex tool watch for that matter, but other than jogging and swimming (I'm worried about water resistance), I've never felt the need to avoid any activity... |

Me and my 5167A in Corsica right now. No issue with sea and salted water since 5 years now :-)
Enjoy your 5167A under water. |

Seriously? I have worn my Patek the same as my rolex, carefree and responsibly.
I have had zero issues. Though I have not put the same amount of use on the Patek, only due to a shorter period of owning the brand. I have shared on this forum pictures of a friends, 2 generations, daily wear original nautilus. Enjoy The watch and Service when needed. The idea that a nautilus can’t be worn daily is absurd to me. Of course there would be practical limitations of risk, rock climbing, off road Blaha adventures in a Jeep or on a motorcycle, demolition work... that said I have worn my watches through these things and more. Scratches can be a consequence but I have plenty of scars that are a part of life. When I enjoy anything a bit rough or sporty I bring My skin and bones to those events each and every time. This topic is crazy to me. Wear your watch. One caveat, imho it is not a sports watch unless the WR is 100m or more.

I used to wear my 5164 as my racing watch...it's totally stout...no worries at all.

At the end of the day - wear your watch if you want, don’t wear it if you don’t.
It’s all personal preference. You just can’t ‘complain’ when/if a risk becomes reality. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Drop test on my 5712R
Dunno about other models but I dropped my 5712R on a hardwood floor. Picked it up and been louping it all day couldn't find a scratch. It runs flawlessly in the past couple of days along with my 5270P.

I wear my 5712 every day. A real ding would bother me but it has a lot of what I call "love marks" from bezel to clasp and I'm not bothered. I just consider it par for the course and feel confident that a very light polish at service time will one day restore its full beauty. :)
I did recently leave it in the safe to go swimming but I was more worried about scraping it on the concrete pool than submerging it. Perhaps I'm an optimist. |

, so you talk w your hand and identify as Italian. Have you considered Panerai... nice and sturdy, heavy as well so you can’t move your arm so easily also the metal is especially resistant to spaghetti sauce
