This sounds more like a treatise on the people who gravitate towards Las Vegas than the people who gravitate towards Rolex. No such density where I live or travel to relax so I’m feeling good.

I recently went to Vegas. We stayed at the Venetian. I saw some Rolexes but it didn’t have such a dramatic, life changing impact on my life.

You've seen the reason for the crazy gray market prices first hand. Demand is far higher than supply, even if Rolex does make 1M watches every year.

I love looking at watches so I would have loved seeing them all on display. Would make for some nice chats with similar minded folks. Vegas is a world unto itself. Been there literally hundreds of times with work over the years and I am not a gambler per say. Its an interesting place for sure but not for everyone.

this is actually a great point. Of all the many reasons to be disgusted with that city, Rolexes should be the last. Degenerate levels of gambling, rampant prostitution, widespread drug use and trafficking, the poverty divide, homelessness... those are legitimate reasons for "visceral disgust".

Yeah... it's the Vegas strip. Everyone is out in decked out party mode.
Hang out on Fremont Street if you don't want to see Rolex's

I love seeing Rolex on others' wrists.

Last week, saw a woman wearing a white-dialed, Zenith Daytona. It looked abbbbbsolutely fantastic on her.

In the city itself (Houston) i dont see near as many as i did just 5 years ago....people care scared they will be shot or robbed....happens everyday....one of the guys i eat with some days told me in 2022 he was held up at the Galleria PL and has his TT datejust ripped off his arm and then hit in the face.....he was 68 when this happened.
I still wear my Rolex but i carry also. I don't go into Houston unless its some very good reason.....in fact its been over a year since I crossed the Harris county line.
In the Woodlands on the W.E. Rolex(s) are everywhere along with Omega Pans, you name it will see it in the town center. Crime is very low but I read its starting to creep in.

Not piling on as is common on that “other” popular watch forum, but this is the first time I have ever heard of Rolex being purchased for the purpose of being exclusive and different.

Exclusivity does not even come to mind when I consider the brand. You just happen to be in a city which centers around the flow of money and flex so it’s not surprising why it would attract people who enjoy and own Rolex.

plenty of ways to differentiate yourself within the brand. sure everyone has a DJ and Sub but not everyone has a Polar, YM, Batgirl.

I have a couple Rolex’s and really like them. But as I get older, I find myself wearing my non-Rolex pcs more. I enjoy not being noticed; only getting an occasional nod from watch-guy that knows/appreciates what I’m wearing.

vegas is one of the few places you can wear your nice watch and feel safe. so i would say its probably an outlier, like disneyland

+1 As a European pretty accustomed to “evil” places like Barcelona, Paris, Mamhattan or SF I still found LV as the most obscure city I’ve visited. The surrounding are dreadful, nature practically non-existent, awful comic hotels looking like made from cheap plastic. Went there last Nov to visit the place and learn it first hand but am never going to repeat this mistake again.

Anyway, all the watcj boutiques might be the best thing this city has on offer for us watch nerds.

I was in Las Vegas a few months ago and yes luxury watches are everywhere. My anecdote was returning to the airport on the rental car shuttle and seeing 3 Sub Dates and a CHNR just on the people sitting next to and across from me.
The other place I see a lot of Rolex each year is MotoGP at Circuit of the Americas. Both in the paddock and amongst the spectators, they are everywhere.

I've got news for you...

But really, people going to Vegas tend to want to show off. They're going to wear their nicest watch. For all the Rolexes you saw in Vegas, there's hundreds of thousands of people who cannot afford to go to Vegas, much less spend 10K on a piece of wrist jewelry.

Rolexes are also very faked. Look at reddit r/rolex and how many fakes are posted there, either as "is this fake?" posts or attempting to be passed off as real. I'm willing to bet quite a lot of what you saw in Vegas was not real.

Not that it matters. Wear what you like. If you want something a little different, grab a VC or a patek. (IMO AP's a one trick pony with the royal oak, and it's an overhyped watch). There's much fewer of those watches than Rolexes out in the world.

I’m European too, was in LV for a full week, at a trade show, working day visiting and stay alive at nights
I like it
Different from anything else in Europe but that’s the spice of LV sin city

For the OP toughts there is nothing particular with wearing Rolex anymore for many years, is like iphone now days, everyone has one.

I was going to say when you drive off your driveway of a morning and drive 50 miles how many BMWs do you see.... same as owning a Rolex it's nothing particularly special

I've seen a cab driver wear a white dial 11650 Daytona in Hong Kong. Might've been a superfake but turns me off regardless hahah

Not Rolex generally, but one of the reasons why I got rid of my black sub. So ubiquitous, and watch that didn’t feel that special to me

Exactly right. I spend most of the year in SWFL. Lots of Rolex watches. I don't really notice them anymore.
