I have the SS DJII w/black dial w/white sticks. For me it's a perfect balance of dressy and casual. I loved many of the other dials that my AD had, but felt that some of them wouldn't work well with jeans and a t-shirt. Just my preference though...I still thought they were great.

My day started out wearing my GV to the Lions games (started with my 78 Sub ND till I put a nice scuff on the plastic crystal and switched to the GV)
Came home, changed for dinner and off to dinner with my Fiancee at her parents house. She was wearing my 36 mm DJ (I gave it to her but she wants her own so still says its mine, I told her she can still keep it when I get her the one she wants) I wore my DJ II. It was a casual dinner, I was in jeans and a button down untucked. The SS/WG with the Silver face and blue numerals really looked NICE with the blue button down i was wearing. Its a GREAT watch, VERY comfortable... Again as I said if I only had one Rolex I don't know what it would be but if you have a sports model and are looking for something a little dressier yet still sporty as a second purchase try the DJ II!!!!

I was recently on vacation in HK and was able to get 8% of the DJ 2 with the lavender numerals. And I couldnt resist picking up the Submariner date. I just had to... I have small wrists but both watches look fine as they should. The regular size DJs are just too small IMO. Good Luck with your decision! I just got the two watches couple weeks ago and just started wearing them. Now I am looking at the 18k Blue Sumbariner!!!! So addictive.. Thankfully I'm single!!

No - different lug width.
The new DJ2 has a 21 mm lug width as opposed to the older DJs which have a 20 mm lug width. The Jubilee bracelet is 20 mm. JJ

Am I the only one who thinks the DJ II is not correctly proportioned? Having the mid size and 36 mm DJ and my wife having the ladies DJ, I probably have a different perspective.
The winding crown is way too small. They should have upsized it and then it would be a great watch.

DJ 2 is now one of my faves, now it is 41mm. White faced batoned dial with WG bezel is my choice. Which do i get now DJ 2 or polar white Explorer 2 ? Any views as i was set on the Explorer 2.

for me, 36mm is too small, therefore the 41mm is a more suitablesize for my 7.25" wrist - yes, have tried both on at the same time to make that judgement. i personally think it is not a large watch, it does not wear large for me at least, and imo, if the they enlarge the crown, it would look funny and un-balanced. |

You do have to try the DJII in person to really appreciate it. Its lower profile makes it wear a bit smaller than the case width would imply. To my eye, it actually looks more reserved than my Submariner since the Sub is so chunky (in a good way).

I was at a store in Tokyo yesterday that had many (probably 12 or so) DJ IIs and DD IIs on display in a case with many Daytonas, subs, etc.. They were clearly significantly larger in appearance than most of the sports models alongside them. They're nice watches, but they are large.

they may look larger, but if you place a DJII and say a Sub side by side, the DJII isn't bigger.
One of the reasons for it is maybe because of the skinny bezel and larger dial..... |

when i saw the DJII at the local AD, i found it to be a bit big... i agree with most that they should have made it 39mm instead of 41mm... n:
last weekend however, i tried it on for the 1st time... and it really was comfortable and the size was just right! only reason for not getting the DJII is because of the AK that i have... it was given to me by my folks so it does have some sentimental value. i reckon it will NEVER see wrist time if i get a DJII... n: but the DJII is a great watch! love the white, black or the blue face with ticks for hour markers! just wondering why they were able to put some lume on the DJII model with arabic numerals and none on model with roman numerals (only at the 9 o-clock position) |

Not enough surface area I suppose. If they did put it on the numerals they would not illuminate the characters properly in terms of font weight/balance. The 9 stick is there for reference so you can get your "bearings" in the dark as it were.

And ideally they should introduce it as a 39 mm model on the Super Jubilee bracelet!!

Also Super Jubilee bracelet with the fluted bezel &/or round bezel with arabics would win in my book.....

I had the opportunity to try on a new DJII (Black stick dial) a couple of weeks ago and it was like heaven. The band and watch felt so good I almost walked out with it......... till my Budget took over. My impression is that it is very sporty with the White or Black stick dial and more dressy with the other dials. At 41MM I think it is extremely similar feel to the Explorer II!!
