Discounts on PM sport models won't happen.

Rolex controls the supply, so if demand softens, they will just tighten supply.

And is there is ever a situation with no demand, is Rolex going to stop producing?

I think many are fooled by the AD’s speil of there is no stock.

Deliveries and production never stops

In 2018, there were discounts aplenty

PM models are worth 1/3 - 1/2 off or more the minute you walk out of the door.
Used dealers prices are illusory, and all open to discount.

PM prices were alway ridiculous, and never represented the the cost of the PM. In the last few years they have been ramped up to fantasy. A white gold submariner is £38k in the UK at the moment. It wasn’t many years ago when they were £24k new.

Used prices tend to reflect the actual market perceived value. It’s a well known fact that Swiss watch demand has atrophied over the last year, so to maintain margins the suppliers have increased prices. The market can only maintain so much before buyer vote with their hands

Rolex will probably do what Rolex has always done. Limited supply of those watches selling over retail on the grey market. A predicted “glut” of unmovable PM Rolex watches at ADs is unsubstantiated. Rolex like many brands use market intelligence to determine where stock is unloaded. The notion that the whole planet is suffering economically at the exact same time is and has always been unsubstantiated. There are countless countries unaffected by a slump in US or EU economies and some even thrive in such occasions.

Usually when I see the white gold Sub it’s significantly less on the grey market, but it’s 99 percent of the time used and polished. I battle this question all the time I think I’d rather pay extra for a brand new one not touched. I think the day of the discounts are over.
