Well, there's a quote and that price should be locked but it's like a car with no options. Once the spec is locked with any extras/additions (e.g. flinque dial, custom engraving, lume, etc) then there may be an adjustment for the additions.

Congratulations! I was quoted 2 years with 2024 delivery at the end of last year. And finally put in the order and deposit in January. Then my AD informed me in February that all watches were with a three year delivery date. A few weeks ago, I was told that he stopped taking orders so I guess you got lucky. I am now expecting a February 2025 delivery with a blue dial tantalum case. What are you planning for yours? In the meanwhile, my KV fix, the LM101 steel should be here anytime now. That will keep me busy until the real thing comes in. |

Blue dial in tantalum case is so cool. I've proposed something to him and have not heard back yet. Will update again when he replies. Hope it is not undoable |

I am keeping mine simple with a blue guilloche dial and a couple of very small personal touches. The case material was the big "if" and I was concerned that he would turn it down but lucky for me it went through. |

Wow, tantalum eh? Something to think about. Not sure I’ll deviate from a PM…. But it is tempting.

Not really but enough to put a price on it. I'm keeping it simple - center seconds, lumed dial/hands, and 44mm ti case. Colors, patterns, markers, movement finish are all tbd, I'm waiting a few years so I don't drive them crazy with changes. In the meantime, I'm getting better with photoshop creating mockups...

I always wanted a KV but they were a little small for me and only recently did I realize they do larger sizes on request. Man, if I had asked sooner I'd be wearing a different watch right now... Movement is basically the same as a standard sc, plates are a little larger to take advantage of the space so technically the movement is a few mm larger but the architecture doesn't change. Display back is a little larger than standard and there's more metal around it as well to fill out the extra diameter and you get an extra 2mm in lug width for a wider strap. Are you thinking of going bigger? More guilloche to enjoy Sent from my XQ-BE62 using Tapatalk |

Actually I have also wanted a SC initially (a simpler and cleaner dial design) but I read that the thickness of the SC is 13.3mm while the V8 is 11.5mm. I prefer a thinner watch so more or less decided on the V8. No wrong choice here because they are both so gorgeous. It's really personal preference because the choices are all there. |

Congrats all. Seems like there are a lot of KV orders at TRF!
I don't know much about KV, but am surprised that it seems like one buys through an AD. Given the personal nature of the interactive design process and Keri's well known name in horology, I am surprised that he uses an AD as a middleman when he probably isn't winning any new business due to AD marketing.

I'm on year 5 of my Roger Smith 7 year wait, so this feels fine to me.
Congrats on finally finishing the spec and getting approval! Kari's work is incredible (have 4 from him myself). |

He has some ADs that have helped him out in the earlier years, and he maintains a healthy relationship with them. He's not really out to sign more ADs. |

I'm not too sure about other countries but over here I can get it straight from my AD, who has a small window display for Kari Voutilainen. Quote:
Commissioning a custom Voutilainen has always been a dream of mine. I can't wait for 2026 to come! Thanks! The approvals (by AD first then by Kari) comes before agreeing the specs. The spec will take a while. |

AD's are very helpful in designs, offer suggestions etc. Hard to decide when the choice is unlimited. Kind of crazy that it went from a 2 year wait when I inquired last year to 4

Which design did you go for? I have proposed something but still waiting for his response at the moment. |

Didn't formally put down a deposit yet. A ton of money for me so keep second guessing myself. My design would be a 28sport base but with the normal teardrop lugs. Markers in polished metal instead of the oeange. Initially I was planning white gold but was reading that Kari prefers working in colored golds. Wanted kind of a fume/smoke dial enamel from slate to gray kind of like the 5711 or perhaps a peacock to gray. Was kind of funny. Realized the design would look kind of like a principia with a Kari dial and manual wind which I thought was silly. Then I realized that was kind of the perfect watch too. If he could put a smidge more WR then it would definitely be perfect. A little nod to my family would be a tiny engraved picture of a dice, each letter is the first initial of me and the family.

I was looking at something from Sartory Billard, which uses Comblemine and offers aventurine glass. A dial from KV incorporating aventurine glass would be quite something, huh?

I came across this picture yesterday - have to say, the triple-stepped lugs are unbelievable. I am wondering whether that is something I could ask for on the GMT! It would be a shame to not have the teardrop lugs... but the triple-stepped lugs are out of this world. |

This is the first time I see these lugs on a Voutilainen. They look good on this particular iteration of 28SC. I would also prefer the tear drops on my first Voutilainen. |

Although I am leaning towards the tear drops, I do wonder whether the triple-stepped lugs would look better on the engraved watch that I am looking for (see earlier in the page). Fortunately, I have some time to mull this out. I just wish I didn't suck so much at photoshop.
