Started with used watches so I would teach myself not to care...once I get the first one that I pull the stickers off, I SHOULD be less concerned about it...but that's attempting to be logical about an illogical thing. Or illogical about a logical thing; can't quite tell.

I notice that all high polish surfaces pick up scratches very easily. Look at them the wrong way and they get swirls ...

I’ve learned long ago to let go of the idea that you can wear a Rolex and keep it absolutely perfect.

Now, dings or deep scratches from knocks are a bit of a different story for me, and I always practice wrist awareness. I’d say I try to keep my watches pristine, but I don’t let it get in the way of enjoying them, YMMV

Nothing wrong with wanting to take care of an item that costs 10k. Scratches big some people more than others. If it really bothers you just keep in mind when you send your watch for it’s first service, it will most likely be restored to almost new.

Scratches are part of wearing a watch every day. Relax and enjoy the journey. And congratulations on the Seiko!

Try not to worry about it too much. It gets easier with time (and with each successive watch). Please put the seiko away and enjoy the sub though, you deserve it or you wouldn’t have bought it.

will get use to it as long as you keep wearing it. Sooner or later you will have no feelings on the scratches

Stressing scratching my watch you must be joking surely, should have seen my working tool SD after many years of service underwater think you might of had a heart attack.Look a plain and simple fact all watches will get scratched when wearing get over that fact or leave your watch in its box.All everyday wearing scratches easily rectified at normal routine service only depending on wearing habits every 5-10 years.

going on three years since I purchased my first Rolex. Started seeing fine scratches after the first few day, today I don't even see them unless I really look close. I don't even remember what the watch looked like when I opened the box for the first time. It's my watch now and it looks like it.

If you're that bothered by it, there are clear protector stickers you can buy online for your case sides. Pretty easy to install and look near invisible.

All of my Rolex bracelets get scuffed on the bottom because I work on a computer at a desk and so I am always rubbing the bracelet against the desk.

The only way to avoid scratches is to lock it up and never wear it.
Wear the watch, don’t let the watch wear you.
Most if not all the marks will be taken out at service time, I won’t have that done to mine when serviced. The scratches are what make it mine.

Funny that some of my marks have certain memories. One on the clasp when my stepson was on leave just after his last tour in Afghanistan, scratched it while he was helping me put up Christmas decorations. Another when a bunch of young girls drug me onto the dance floor at my daughters wedding. Yet another one caused by our chocolate labs collar, he’s no longer with us. My watch, my scratches, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Embrace the marks.

The clasp on my first SeaDweller, now departed, was so smacked and dented on rocks etc. that you could hardly tell where the raised section was. Gee, I miss that watch and its cosmetic problems (I have them too, noted each day when I shave).

So you do understand, dont you, that the watch will outlive you and by a wide margin? Once that sinks in, you will not be so concerned with scuffs. Your better off taking better care of yourself and worrying less about your sub.

Haha, now thats a contentious statement.

Not many people can afford to splash out £6000+ on a 'Tool Watch' to be used and abused, for many a watch at this price is very much a grail watch, something that they have dreamed to own, something to be treated as special and worn selectively, a treasured possession.

For others the watch is just that a watch, something that they have been able to afford and they have the view that the watch is there to be worn and placed in the face of danger, scratches and bumps are part of life.

We all have our reasons for buying luxury watches, for many it is an aspirational purchase for occasional use whilst for others it is simply a great watch to be worn regularly.

Mine is both my grail watch and just a watch. I purchased it to wear every day no matter the task. I take it off if I’m welding or underneath a car on concrete. Beyond that it rarely leaves my wrist.

I believe a watch is so active on the wrist. It will scratch and no matter how careful you are, you may even ding it here and there. It is inevitable. I think you will get over it. If not, I’d say move on. I’d never own something that expensive if I didn’t enjoy it.

It scratches. Get used to it, nothing you can do about it except not wear it and keep it in a safe.
