At least Rolex has the good taste to hide this, unlike Patek who proudly presents undersized calibers with exhibition caseback.

Not really since the DSSD uses a full height ringlock system taking up a lot of that space between the movement and the case.

Thanks for the photo. While off topic, your photo raises more questions than answers. Namely, why the absurdly uncomfortable bulbous caseback on the SD43? Clearly the movement is sufficiently recessed/flat to accommodate a flatter caseback…

If anyone from Rolex is reading, ditch that caseback and I will rebuy a SD43 tomorrow

ditch the case back for a flatter one lose the depth rating

The 3187 caliber would fit snug as the SD43 case is the exact size as the 216570 Ref.
