My GV will be here tomorrow. The jeweler said I am lucky that it is an M serial because the V's will be in abundance. Gonna put it on Craigslist for $10k.

How is a m serial better than a v? There is less of them bec. of the production delay but i don't see how that increases value bec. it's the same watch.

Not a huge fan of the Milgauss. Don't like the lightning bolt hand, no date, and the antimagnetic properties aren't useful to me. The green glass is neat, but whatever. The appeal of this thing has historically been that it is hard to get.

The people buying this at inflated prices seem to be "watch collectors" who have convinced themselves that these really are investments, and that the price was destined to rise.

I can't imagine very many people would choose this watch out of the Rolex lineup to be their one watch.

It is like the "transition" subs out there. In 20 years it will be a selling point.

I would say that below MSRP is a stretch, but people do want to fill their gas tanks and tummies. The AD has me down for a permanent 15% off of TT watches, even the GMTIIc for me is $8500. I am still debating a Bluesy after getting other stuff!

I am sure glad I am not in retail sales living on commission right now.

I seriously doubt that a M serial will be worth a penny more, it's just another sales guy blowing smoke. I look at it this way, F's cost less than D's, D's cost less than Z's, Z's cost less than M's and guess what is next....that's right, a M will cost less than a V in the future.

But first year subs are worth more than 2nd and 3rd year. Time will tell!

Your last sentence there.... I wonder if that is what folks thought when the first Milgauss came out, and that is why it is worth so much now?

Robert, you must realise that the reason they were discontinued is because they were horrible sellers, seriously horrible. That is why they are demanding a premium now, because their are not many out their because they did not sell. Those are the facts, believe them or not.

Horrible sellers = less production = less available = RARE. The Daytonas were not produced in numbers either.

As for the original Milgauss, they fetch what, $50k?

GV prices are falling fast

Yes they are. In fact prices for both Milgauss models are plunging in Singapore - from US$10,000 for the non-anniversary model a year ago to about US$7,000 now. As for the GV model, it started out at US$15,000 a year ago but the price has crashed now, possibly to US$10,000. IMO these are still too high but it's nice to know that sanity is beginning to prevail all over the world.

A new low price..........

I just saw a BNIB "V" serial GV being offered for $7,599. That's the lowest I've seen one being offered on the secondary market BNIB. I guess soon the GV will be at or around MSRP.
