I‘ve had the Ghost and now have the Paul Newman. I prefer the PN by far. It has a matte black dial and matte subdials, so it‘s very cool looking in combination with Oyster bracelet, red seconds hand and the YG case and clasp. It‘s not flash but very unique.
It‘s so much more stunning in real than in photos.

Daytona Ghost or Paul Newman on Oysterflex?

No matter which way to you go you can't go wrong. The Daytona with the ceramic bezel looks great on an OF.

I have the WG “ghost” I wanted this RG OF Daytona for my wife but I wanted without the gold ring. But this is beautiful I may request it.

I personally only have one OF and it’s the ghost but the PN is next for me.

There is no way I would trade what you have for a watch on a rubber strap. Much less one with legibility issues.

I like the ghost a lot better than the one with the gold subdials, but would not trade your collection for either one. Keep what you have, and save for a ghost.

I like them both but not enough to purchase one. If going PM get it on the bracelet. For the money it is the way to go for me.

If they offered a PM on a bracelet with a ceramic bezel like the Platinum I would be tempted. But I just can't stand the PM bezel that comes with the bracelet. They scratch just looking at them (I know, I had a TT Daytona) and doesn't add any contrast to the watch. I love the contrast the OF adds to the black bezel and sub dials on my RG Sundust dial.

I have the Paul Newman, but the Ghost is also a beautiful watch. I wouldn't trade off the Pepsi.

Well, first of all, I would NOT include the Pepsi in that multi-watch trade.

As for which one, I like white metals better, so that's easy. The PN is amazing, though, so if that's more your style, you can't go wrong there, either.

Both are beautiful but that Paul Newman dial is stunning.

Thanks for all the comments, and especially the photos of your Daytonas on OF. Head says Ghost, but I can’t quite shake the Paul Newman off. I’ll be buying Grey market because I have no chance of getting either through an AD, so will see if I can visit a dealer who has both in stock, to try on side by side.

You’ve also helped me crystallise my thinking around the trade in. As it stands, I’ll part ex my Sea Dweller red 43 plus Millgaus, plus cash for whichever DT I go for. That is, unless Rolex do something like cease Pepsi and intro Coke at Watches and Wonders, causing a temporary boom on Pepsi prices, in which case I’ll ride that wave and trade all three, buying the DT OF plus a faithful Sub for daily wear. So thanks again everyone, I’ll update with pics in due course.

I have both. Newman is great but I honestly don’t think can beat the Ghost for a daily. I have a number of watches (GMT’s, day date, AP, PP), but that Ghost gets most wrist time. Understated yet stunning and so comfortable - yet with enough heft given white gold. Poor photo, but wearing it now.

Ps if you go for Newman, in my opinion last generation with red marker seems much better.

Equally agree with a lot of opinions here. Definitely wouldn’t trade the Pepsi. If you have one it’s another great daily and truly iconic.

Keep your PEPSI!!!!

Drop the MG and SD + $ if you really want to do the deal.

Perspective 1 … I wouldn’t trade 3 watches for 1.

Perspective 2 … If I was adding one of those two watches to my collection it would be the “Paul Newman”, as it is the better looking / more interesting watch of the two (by far), to me.

The white gold / silver dial is a good looking watch …

the yellow gold / black dial / gold sub dials / red hand is a great looking watch.

OK so I’ll go grey and trade two of the three on part-ex for one of the DT OF beauties.

The Pepsi I’m torn over, head says if it gets a silly bounce following Watches and Wonders then move it on as it will go a long way towards the DT OF. Trying but failing to upload a pic of my current three amigos, Seadweller,
Pepsi and Millgauss. Thanks everyone for your thoughts.

Did you do it in the end? Curious to hear the final of the story!
