I have no idea why people keep wanting Omega to make a cheaper Submariner. They also do, its called a Planet Ocean.

If you want similar there is Pelagos and many others that are indistinguishable from the Submariner.

Not everything's about imitating Rolex..... I've collected Seamasters for a couple decades now and have always wanted the proper no date SMP300 with no date. The NTTD was the best option vs the 43mm titanium one..... So I purchased the NTTD immediately. But because of my activities I've always wanted a simple no date SMP300.... This is shaping up to be something exciting in my eyes.

I love Omega. For me, their "chonker" SMP bracelets from the early 90s' just aren't cutting it anymore...

It's not about "imitating" Rolex in this regard. It's about comfort and practicality.

I agree as well. I've owned several Seamasters. I currently own the NTTD. It's definitely the best Seamaster I've owned. Fortunately the mesh bracelet fits me well, but I know this bracelet can be unforgiving in sizing and bulk for others. The standard SMP bracelet is no longer a viable design. It's comfortable, but non-tapered, bulky bracelets just aren't in style anymore. I understand that it is or was part of the design language of the model, but these things change. I suppose if they could thin the bracelet out and taper it, it could work. Personally, I think they should just go to a flat link bracelet. I personally like the mesh bracelet, but again there are sizing issues for many.

Even though I own the NTTD, I do like the wave pattern on the dial. The helium valve does not bother me in the least. I can take or leave the date function provided it remains at 6 o'clock.

Current watch is great. I have been tempted on many occasions to pull the trigger. However, I can’t get over the bezel actions when comparing it to my Submariner. Also, I prefer to get the bracelet, but it’s so hideous. I really like the OEM rubber strap though.

I don't understand it either. If you want a cheaper Sub, just get a Tudor.

^^^^^THIS^^^^^. Quality of any Omega beats any Tudor, any day of the week. It's not even a fair comparison. And the Omega 8000 series movements for the most part beat almost every Rolex. And I say this as a Rolex fanboy.

Not true. The bracelet is the only change that needs to be made it screams 90's Tag. Everything else makes it unique. Just slap the Planet Ocean bracelet on there and call it a day.

And they need to slap the Planet Ocean helium escape valve instead of the Hershey shaped one if they want to continue the HEV design language, which I think they should, as it has become a signature feature and is instantly recognizable as a Seamaster from across the room.

P.S. I would also choose a Seamaster over a Tudor any day of the week.

Well said. Sometimes my wife asks me while watching TV etc, what watch is that? I can always tell a modern Seamaster from HEV and the bracelet.

I think Omega have already given us the alternate bracelet, its the mesh bracelet which is controversial but also unique to SMP DNA which atm is very important to Omega.

SMP is their top seller, it has its own ID and is mostly unchanged for past 30 years. That's very hard to achieve and Omega is making every effort to ensure the consistency without mucking the DNA too much.

I truly believe what DC wore is either the new SMP or the prologue to it. I think Omega is going back to its original thin wave pattern (Brosnan) with new aluminum bezel which Omega says is harder and carrier deep colours. It will be available in other colours and mesh bracelet will be an additional option.

Time will tell if i am right but I think I am close.

I agree the smp is a higher quality watch compared to Tudor but for my wrist the black bay, 58, 54 etc is better sized. I’d prefer a 40 smp or 40.5 max. My 6.6 just can’t handle the current sizing as much as I try to force it. I’ve literary bought almost all variants and sold them all. Note: a different color doesn’t shrink it LOL

I don't think one needs to be an insider to know that Omega is not going back to 40mm. Omegas wear smaller than other watches. I can see maybe 41mm maybe on the cards but 40 is very unlikely.

The PO on the other hand is another story..
