Unless your son also happens to be Cristiano Ronaldo, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say she could have possibly chosen better.

Would you care to share some specifics on the watch itself, i.e, reference number and accompanying paperwork? Also the authentication process?

It’s a reference 42069 very popular in some circles. I see many usernames across the internet with those numbers.

Well, I asked for opinions and got them so I can't complain. For those who expressed their option regarding the watch, thank you. For others who went beyond that questioning the integrity of my son and his girlfriend, not so much. Anyway, I don't have the watch or paperwork, it is in California where my son resides. As to the comment quoted above, I believe that is the correct reference number.

Jerry, if you took my comments about the watch as disparaging your son or his girlfriend I sincerely apologize as that was not my intent.

Don’t think that’s a legit reference number.
The watch is actually a 116769TBR.
Here is an article from Bob’s on it.
That watch if found, is selling for nearly half a million dollars.
Hence why I asked OP if he knew what was paid for it.

My reference number was funnier. If you didn’t catch it then you wouldn’t find it funny.

I was right on the last two numbers though!!

Now that is interesting. Thanks for the information. I would not have thought this was real.

To the OP, this potentially being a half million dollar watch, does that seem in line with something she would have gifted? Do you think it is real, knowing this information? Fascinating story.

I know most members don't like the style of this watch, but you have to admit this is interesting knowing that this model actually exists.

I did not take exception to your comments at all and presumed you were trying to be helpful by giving a reference number. I have no idea what the reference might be. I have only seen the same photos as posted. My son doesn't even know I solicited input regarding the watch. I was just curious about what Rolex people might think about the opulence of the watch. I was a bit disappointed about some of the negative, accusatory comments received. It seemed to me that a few of the judgmental comments were made after simply viewing the pictures and NOT reading my comments regarding my expectations. The watch is an authentic Rolex. I have been a member of this site for years and have no reason to post a fake, or frankinwatch.

I don’t think anyone is saying you would intentionally post a fake, specially since it is not even in your possession.
That said, if you put emotions aside, and zoom in on the one you posted and then do the same on the one on the link I posted, they are vastly different.
Note the end links, three rows of diamonds on yours, four on my link.
Note the center links, much thicker rectangular border around diamonds than in the one I posted.
Note the angled cut diamond on bezel at the 7 to 8 o’clock.
That may very well be a genuine GMT but I don’t think they are factory set diamonds. The lack of brilliance is the biggest indicator. Rolex diamonds are top notch quality and sparkle very vividly.
Lastly, as I mentioned earlier, nearly $475,000 market value. If she spent that, God bless them.

Hopefully I have provided you food for thought, in a respectful manner.

I said the watch was a genuine Rolex, I never said anything about the diamonds or the watch being valued at 500K. I do know the watch is valued in excess of 100K and is completely authentic diamonds and all. I requested opinions about the appearance of the watch. Anything beyond that was supplied by others.

I think what the comments regarding frankenwatch are trying to say is, the diamonds were not installed by Rolex and the way this watch sits is not how it left the Rolex factory.

I try not to judge but I can think of a lot of other things to blow 100k+ on than that.

Congrats to your son for winning at the game we call life and satisfying a girlfriend enough for her to drop 100k+ on a watch as a gift.

Respectfully, continue in denial.
You posted a photo on a Rolex group and are upset about comments.
Ask yourself why it was moved to “watch out”.

Did Rolex ever do lumed markers on a diamond pave dial? That just looks off to me.

If Rolex did not install the diamonds, and from the pics posted, it’s different when compared to the pic of the genuine one, then it’s not an original Rolex, though it’s possible that parts of it MAY be. Therefore, it’s either a frankenwatch, or an outright fake. What you should tell your son is to have it thoroughly checked out by an expert. If she paid about $100,000 for a watch that should have cost $475,000, that alone is a huge red flag. Folks here are trying to be helpful, and no one is disparaging your son or his girlfriend. Rather we are urging you to have them get the watch checked out, so she can return it, for a refund. That’s a lot of money for anyone to lose. Good, luck to all of you.

Kat
