Speedmaster hate the shoulders hate the bracelet
Daytona hate the busy dial. Tudor 79260 the watch they should’ve been. |

I can't handle how feminine the Daytona is @ 38.5mm and poor legibility. I ditched my 116520 for an AP.
Speedy Pro is THE chronograph imo. |

Daytona would be my choice. But in PM.
Owned a Speedmaster reduced. Only had a SpeedMaster because I was new in the hobby and every source I read told me I needed one in my collection. I hardly wore it. I gifted it to my best man at my wedding. He wears it everytime we meet up. |

Daytona is a unisex (or maybe like a feminine size?- not meant to be negative) choice and that is a plus for couples over a speedy for sure. The size is either a plus or minus depending on personal factors. Speedy is a little larger.

I'd take the Speedmaster over the Daytona, any day of the week.

I own both, and prefer the Daytona by a fair margin. Wears better on my wrist, can swim with it, and feels more durable.
With that said, I also love the moonwatch and it will never leave my collection. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Daytona hands down. However, a collection isn’t complete without a speedy

More like the Daytona is a Range Rover and the Speedy a Land Cruiser. Back in the day, both were equally purpose-built, rugged and capable. But today's Range Rover bears little resemblance to its ancestors in terms of its intended audience and purpose. The Land Cruiser, while upmarket compared to the originals, still has a rugged element that the Range Rover lacks.

Can’t say because I’ve never owned a Daytona but I will say I absolutely love the new 3861 speedmaster.

Daytona vs Omega moon watch
Quote:
I own both a 116500 and a 3861 Speedy. Love both for different reasons, but these dichotomies and rankings are pretty spot on. Daytona feels a step up in quality, mostly due to a more solid bracelet and bigger, snappier milled clasp. Not to take anything away from the Omega. The clasp is high quality, the bracelet is a little nostalgically rattley. That seems intentional though. And the new Speedy bracelet looks and is fantastic. Maybe the Daytona has more polished surfaces too. That changes the impression you get. I love the Daytona for when I want the perfect fitting/wearing watch. I love the Speedy for when I want a watch that is legible. The speedy gives off more of a vintage tool watch vibe. The Daytona is more of a cocktail/dinner piece in a way. (I’ve daily-ed both for months, not trying to be empirical.) Edit: Also the chronograph on the Rolex has a far better feel than the Omega, if that matters to you. The Omega has that lateral clutch stutter and is more snappy than buttery. |

You are asking this question in Rolex forum so naturally most votes will be for Daytona. Personally I like Moonwatch but I would also buy Daytona from the investment point of view.

Totally unfair comparison. These type of threads pop up every once in a while, it’s basically fishing for confirmation bias for those who own the Omega. It is what it is.

I am completely indifferent to the Daytona. I love my Speedmaster and find it easier to read than a Daytona. I think I paid about $3600 for it new about five years ago and its value greatly exceeds its price. If I could find a Daytona at retail I wouldn’t buy it, I’ve got the chronograph I want.

Daytona vs Omega moon watch
Quote:
I’m not so sure about this. On TRF, I think for every guy out there with a Daytona, there are about 15 of us with a Speedmaster. That’s not scientific at all. Just a guess, but I suspect a good guess. The Speedmaster always gets a lot of love on TRF. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thank you much appreciated but knowledge and information is far down the list of priorities on forum now.
