Does anyone know of a reference with the same dial as the silver OP? I am sure there’s something but can’t recall Rolex ever making this dial color, especially with yellow gold markers.

That will be the day I pay $15K for a OP. I'm glad I bought my 39mm black OP when I did.

From what I've read, Rolex has only used gold in watches that are two-tone in the past. This is the first watch ever to have gold in a steel watch.

Hype is a funny old thing. Back when the original Stella dials came out in the '70's Rolex could hardly give them away, and yet now because they're all shiny and new again, people can't get enough of them. The cynic in me wonders how many people would be clamouring for a bright coral/yellow/turquoise dial watch if that dial didn't have a little Crown on it.
Personally I think the black, blue and silver versions are perfectly fine entry-level pieces, but I can't help wondering if a few buyers of the louder colours may find themselves regretting their choice in a few years once the hype has died down. I hope not, but I wouldn't be surprised. JMO of course... |

I tried on the silver dial one at a Tourneau. I’m a fan, should have bought it that day.

Retail only. I have the Rhodium dial and will probably add the yellow dial at some point.

They don’t do anything at all for me and I wouldn’t buy one for myself even with a discount. However I’d like to get my wife the turquoise or pink 36mm but definitely not over list price.

Oyster Perpetual is the new Submariner
Had one for a bit. Wife didn't like it on me. My only complaint was no date and at many angles the hands against the light dial are very hard to read. Edit: and the double batons.

Don’t really see how these compare to the Sub. The benefit of the OP has always been the cheaper price tag. Addition dial colors are neat, but design is pretty plain. Sub is next level Rolex.

Not fan of the new OP line. I think the size, and with the exception of the black, and blue dial. The colors sorry, are comical. I’ll pass, and definitely would not pay a cent over MSRP.

I love my 39mm rhodium. These new colors are too "vibrant" for me, but I love that Rolex has taken the quirky little pips on my dial and has maxed them out, so to speak, into real crowd pleasers. Almost like they've taken a lesson from Tudor.
I also love watching sub fan boys get all huffy (and dismissive) when non-"sports" swatches get some (well-deserved) attention. |
