As for the names being a bit childish or naff, sure I agree. And they also identify you are a bit of a watch geek / Rolex fan boy/girl. You may - or may not - be happy to be identified as someone that spends too much time obsessing about dial / bezel combinations on something as mundane as a watch. I don't use those names in Rolex ADs for that reason, even though the sales associates have on rare occasion used the nick names themselves. (I imagine their brand training asks them not to).
You do make some sense. After the delivery of my 116500 in early 2017 and learning about watches since i began collecting in the 70s, i corrected a guy who called my Daytona a panda. I explained what a panda watch looked like and then found out that other people on TRF etc were mistakenly referring to my daytona as a panda. So, just my opinion but the nicknames of such sophisticated machinery as a Rolex are kind of silly?!

Been waiting 9 months so far for the 126518LN. Was offered a PN last year and turned it down. Really want the one everyone wants (won't say the name as it seems to offend everyone)

What people are experiencing makes a lot of sense.

ADs don’t get that many of each reference, but there isn’t that many people asking for $30k pieces (unlike everyone asking for that $10k SS Pepsi, which frankly isn’t much more $ than a Datejust or any Rolex for that matter).

So if you are only working with one AD and you want a specific reference, you might have to wait a long time, as maybe the AD only gets one or two a year and you’re #2 or 3 on the list.

On the other hand, if an AD has the reference and you walk into the store wanting to buy it, they will gladly sell it to you because if they didn’t already sell it, it means they don’t have anyone waiting for that reference on their list.

So best advice (if you don’t care about working with a specific AD) is to ask 3 or 4 ADs and check in every few months. You should get the watch within a year.

Mine says hi (timeline above doesn’t apply for this one).

Vice versa at mine. Interesting how this differs by location.

Yeah it was odd. My main interest was in BLNR and since my AD can accept two different models to be on a list for I chose Ghost as a second one. Did not expect it to arrive before BLNR.

I believe this to be true. However, why do people such as yourself have an issue with placing where they live in their Avatar? We might have a better information towards your thread if we knew what part of the world you live in. You don't need your street address. Heck, even a country would help.

I'm not upset. It's a legitimate question. Why don't people put their location or even a country in their avatar? There shouldn't be a security concern that I am aware of. I just don't understand why people don't do this. It really would help when trying to answer questions in posts such as yours. You started the thread asking the availability of OF Daytona's. In a followup post you state it is varied depending where you are based, which I think might be true. But hard to say the availability in your area if we don't know where you are from. Not a big deal at all, just a comment.

There’s a few models, how many of each anyone’s guess but they’re not lying around that’s for sure
