Regarding the weight, I believe the SS deep sea is 212 grams and the gold deep sea is 322 grams. When you hold one in each hand you can tell one is heavier. But like I said, once on my wrist I can't tell its heaver than the SS version at all.

When I'm wearing the gold deep sea it feels great, and the weight is not an issue at all and I forget I'm wearing it.

Posted on another thread that I recently had a chance to try the yellow gold and compared it to my buddies SS....never thought I would fall for such a piece but I am seriously considering the YG....

As stated elsewhere you can feel the weight difference while holding both pieces, however on the wrist seemed somewhat similar and sat nicely for such a chunky case...

I do like to wear my watches, just wondering how much wrist time such a watch would get given the amount of attention it would draw in any scenario...

Regarding deep sea wrist time…..I wear my SS DSSD daily, and I wear my new yellow gold deep sea when going out to dinner with my wife.

I wear my watches as often as I can because I truly like wearing them.
Neither watch has ever drawn any attention, as nobody really cares about watches or notices them…………………..and that’s the way I like it.

Guess I'm lucky. Never had any comfort issues at all with the SD43. As for the DSSD, love the JC dial but it's just so damn thick. Talk about wearing a hockey puck. The SD43 is just perfectly sized, and that protruding case back is what makes sink down and look so good on the wrist. YMMV

I wear the black as a daily and the D-blue when celebrating special occassions with my wife

Love mine! 6’1” 320lbs with an 8”+ wrist so YMMV but if you have the frame for it, it’s such a great watch! Only thing I’d consider trading it toward is a WG sub because they weigh about the same lol. Love the heft of it and the dial is arguably the best in the catalog.

A 136660 was my first Rolex - got it late last year - and it’s been on my wrist pretty much non stop.

Working on my car, gardening, house work, painting, cooking, jet skis, flying, sitting at a desk, and work dinners… it does it all. And it can take a beating and I just don’t stress about it. I wanted a watch I felt no need to baby at all or worry if it scratched. D-Blue DS fit the bill perfectly.

This is a real technical tour de force, IMO the most interesting Rolex watch. But wearing it to the office feels like coming in with a diving mask and swim fins.

I owned 2 JC, kept the first one for about a year. Its a nice watch and got unexpected compliments from non watch people, the dial is amazing. It was my it was in my 3 watch rotation so I wore it twice a week.

I was working at the time and it went nice with a suit and tie no issue with shirt on suit jacket sleeves. You do notice the heft after wearing it for 8 hours plus, and it would constantly rotate on my wrist to the left which I dont like, so I ended up making it very snug on my wrist and that made it uncomfortable (I have a 7.5 inch wrist).

I would probably buy a 3rd on at a really good second hand price knowing that wearing it would be limited perhaps to only when I go swimming or to the beach.

I have the black dial one, Mk II I guess. That's with the updated crystal, lugs, and lug width.

I like it a lot. Its very comfortable on my 6.5" wrist. I removed the diver extension just for your reference.

I've got the 116660 James Cameron and love it, it's an amazing watch. I think the updated version with a wider bracelet would wear even better. As others have mentioned the glidelock clasp is best in class. If you like the style and don't mind a big watch, it's a winner.

One thing to keep in mind about the JC dial. It is amazing, but it is mainly for you as the wearer to look at and maybe someone standing or sitting right beside you in bright light. From a distance or in low light, the blue will not be seen. It will look like the black version from a distance.

That said, JC dial all day for me!

Looks good but with the cyclops, takes away from the true SD line. Might as well just get a sub.

I'll weigh in. Have the original version 116660 and I love it. Been my daily, 24hr companion for 10+yrs. Wrists are not big but adjusted properly it wears great (to me). I kept in the diver's extension since I dive and with the glidelock it's easy to wear over the suit when needed.

Just sent it in this week for service and brought out my old Sea-Dweller 16600. Man after all these years it seems really small. Have to admit though, I still love the old girl. Lots of memories.

Anyway, once you commit to it and get use to it, for me at least, I never thought about the size. Just seemed to be part of me.

I have a 136660 (JC DSSD). I fully recommend trying one on at an AD an seeing if it works for you. I did with an exhibition model and I was surprised at how well it wore. I did not find it to be overly intrusive, and it has been my daily for a few months now. I don't find it too heavy and quite enjoy it.

It is hard to make that decision in the few moments that an AD will allow you to try one on, but in my case, I enjoyed it and have worn it every day since. The dial is abosultuely superb!

Try it on and see what you think.
