I dive with my watch as often as I can, but in reality, 99% of the time my watch is used on dry land (just like 99% of other owners I'm sure). The extension system is used a ton more in my day-to-day activities than in diving and I know if I owned a GMT equipped w/ Glidelock I would use the feature just as much. The Glidelock is TOO GOOD IMO to be restricted to only diving watches.

To get back on topic, I must admit this SS Sub, while not a surprise, is everything I hoped it would be. I can't wait to see one in person...I just might have to become a Sea-Dweller & Sub owner once again.

Cheers.
I agree 99% is on dry land and the extension is only good over a thick wetsuit. So 99.9% of the time, average people never need the feature. The Glidelock could be used more often, And for varying thickness IMHO... RS

Status of Sub 16610

Would be interesting to see a side-by-side comparison, maybe even feature versus feature, against the current Rolex 16610 Submariner Date. Er, that is to say "current?" I guess: Anyone know the status of the 16610? My local AD said the other week that there haven't been any available to come in for a while now.
So I waited a good 15 years until I was out of school and paid of my student loans before I finally splurged on a new beloved Black SS Rolex Sub Date (16610) in 2007 from an AD, now they made all these spiffy upgrades; I've considered selling mine and buying the new black one, but after reading the forum, I'm wondering if mine will be more desirable since you can't buy them anymore, or if it will drop in value because it doesn’t have all the improvements the new one has. Thoughts?

Does anyone know the overall thickness/height of the Sub C?

I'm curious to compare with the GMT IIc ...I'm expecting the Sub C to be thicker overall.

Cheers

September seems about the normal guess but that's the first time I have heard 9k. Idk it just seems too much at 9 IMO. Where did you hear 9 from?

from a Toronto AD, when I was up in Canada last week, I found them generally overpriced however. So i'd consider $9K the high end of the spectrum

List price on the TT Sub ceramic is $10,400; the list on the 16613 was about 9k, so it took a 1,000 plus dollar jump..

The current Sub Date lists for $6,400 (LV), and so you can expect the new SS version to list for 1,000 plus over the old price - plus an extra 500 for the "green gold" dial..

That would but the 116610LN at something over 7,000 bucks, and the 116610LV at close to or over 8,000. Then, if you expect any sort of price increase before it actually hits the market...............it will be more...

I found the answer to my own question...

GMT IIc: 11.9 mm

Sub C: 12.53 mm

My AD in (Portugal) told me that the new Ceramic Sub is going to arrive in September.

The price will be something around 5.400 Euros (as the old one costs 4.600)

I am already waiting for mine

Guys,

I just saw this new Sub listed in the July/August 2101 Departures magazine
in All Green with a description calling it "Oyster Perpetual Submariner
Date" with a $7,725 list price! Ouch, that would be quite a bump up but as
my AD said, the bump to ceramic in the Blue Sub was $1,100 and this is a
more significant upgrade than that was. Stay tuned!
