Well the bat boy watch has been available in some sort of configuration for 10+ years. If you like the novelty I think going with the Brittany Griner takes the cake on recency alone. I've seen so many batboys, bat girls, Pepsi, Pepsi girls and the Griner is a nice subtle change for those who might not seek as much color.

The blue is subtle enough that it can be a one and done IMO. It also breaks up the monochromaticness of the watch.

For whatever reason he has a fascination that the nickname for the GRNR is Griner, which it isn't. He likes to associate the basketball player, Brittney Griner with "GRNR". As with you, 3/4's of the world have no clue who she even is.

When in fact, most people associate the TT and PM GRNR with Guinness because of it's black/grey/gold combination colored bezel.

100% agree. I have the TT GRNR and the SS does nothing for me.

To the OP. As others have stated, only you can decide which one YOU like best. You will be the one wearing it, not us. What I like may not be what you like.

I’ll take the BLNR/jubilee as the #1 GMT color combo. This would be as a “one and done” Rolex collection or a multi watch collection.

Here is a more in-depth “open box” thread on my thought process after owning many.

Well the whole point of this post by OP was just to use the goofy moniker of Bruce Wayne in a post. I decide to take it to new levels of absurdity and call it "Griner" because its significantly closer to GRNR than calling it "bruce wayne" you're just pronouncing the reference ID as a word.

It's funny the once prestigious brand of Rolex watches to some have become nothing more than comic book characters. Speaking for myself I always buy the watches I want to own and wear and that's the only opinion that matter this is what I posted not anything about the other silly stupid nicknames.

It’s amazing to me how people get so bent out of shape over nicknames.

It must be a sad existence to have or tolerate no whimsy in one’s life

SS GRNR(Bruce Wayne) Vs BLNR (Batman)

The BLNR is much more “toned down” than you would think. Not sure why people think the blue shines like a spotlight.

Below is a picture of me wearing a BLNR. It looks like a GRNR.

Here is another. You can see the blue but it’s not shimmering like a beacon.

There is no better but I prefer the colorway of the BLNR. It’s a beautiful hue of blue and more interesting to me than the grey/black.

I totally get the appeal of the GRNR though, I just prefer the BLNR.

Haha, I definitely agree with your sentiment. I never use the superhero names but I understand why some do. Easier to describe for them. But I agree with you, seems immature and lowering the brand.

I’m curious, I wasn’t paying attention to Rolex in the 90s or earlier, was there also a pushback from Rolex aficionados when people used the soda pop nicknames? I.e. Pepsi, Coke, Root Beer

One could argue soda pop nicknames and super hero nicknames are equally juvenile.

If you're looking for the "better" choice, ask yourself. Totally a subjective thing.

However, if you crave attention and more validation from others then I would suggest the BLNR on a jubilee has it has the blue to capture the eye.

Better choice for what?… I think the BLNR is the better choice for those who like black and blue, and the GRNR is the better choice for those who like black and gray.

As in many aspects of life we have a both and situation…..not either or. Love my BLNR and GMT’s in general. I had the GRNR on the wrist and found it to be quite elegant, almost sublime. I think it’s kind of nice to move past all the color, just a bit sometimes. Hope to add the GRNR, but not my next allocation. I hope.

Like beauty, whimsy is in the eye of the beholder… I roll my eyes at the nicknames and shake my head at those desperate for validation in being the first person to coin a nickname for a new watch… That being said, I find it quite whimsical when my 10 yr old son farts while his cello instructor is standing next to him while she’s trying to teach him the correct way to pull his bow… YMMV.
