Daytona vs Daytona Ceramic side by side
For those who are willing to "mod" your 16520 / 116520 Daytonas, there are already available aftermarket ceramic bezels, which could easily be swapped with the steel bezel to achieve a look similar to the newer model:
https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/111938521562 It's a simple swap which can be reversed at any time, so suggest to look into that option!

The new one is a beauty but don't think I would get rid of my current white dial for it.

Swap is done without the need of opening the watch (from the outside); any competent watchmen can do it for you, even yourself if have the right tool Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Prefer ss bezel
Particularly with white dial. I couldn't care less about scratches (I've a 5167 and a RO after all). So I'm happy that the old version will soon be in abundant supply and I can get a good one cheaper.

Both are very sharp. New SS bezel is refined and very handsome. Ceramic is more sporty and pops with white dial.

Very good picture, I typically wear my Daytona with a suit so SS for me, if I decide to purchase a SSC will be for a more casual attire....
They both can coexist and look amazing!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Ceramic all the way. The SS bezel is a scratch magnet and the ceramic will give it a bit larger wrist presence. 👍

I think the old one will either stay the same price or increase. I don't see it decreasing imo. I think the daytona-c is a great looking watch and hopefully they make enough to keep the price reasonable so everyone can have one.

I prefer the old daytona its more versatile and more elegant. Why must all rolex models have a ceramic bezel?

I love and respect 116520 which I owned before BUT not even close versus Daytona-C. Speechless, new release is a WINNER.

One of the things I don't like about the stainless bezel version is how easily the bezel gets and shows scratches. So the ceramic might just be the ticket. Maybe.

Man this is tough...I've NEVER liked the Daytona and have been eyeballing the BLNR since my last ExPII purchase.
But now I'm actually torn. Have two chronos...Speedy Pro 50th and Omega and truthfully didn't want a third, but I think Rolex really rocked Basel this year... |

I think as the watch ages, the scratches on the bezel compliment the wear marks on the watch itself. Having a worn body/lugs but a mint bezel would be bizarre.
Having said that, the ceramic looks fantastic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I always liked the 116520 but the 116500 is next level for me. Just what the watch needed. I'm sold.

I am kind of at a loss on this one. The SS Daytona has been on my "next one" list for a long time. Yesterday I was having that very much "had to have it" feeling on the SSC. Today though I was reflecting on why I wanted the SS Daytona in the first place and that is the elegance and dressiness over my GMT and ND Sub. The SSC Daytona with the contrasting bezel is indeed a beautiful watch to behold but a different beast altogether from the SS Daytona appearing much much sportier and less dressy.
Me thinks there will be a brief tank in value and resale prices of the SS Daytona as the rage, price gouging and waiting lists of the SSC commences. I believe the next couple of years will be the time to buy a SS Daytona until prices level back out and the predecessor follows the market of the successors prices much as the older GMT's and Sub's have done. I am thinking I will enjoy the new one vicariously through you folks that want it more than I. I am looking forward to the "Show your Daytona SSC threads". |
