And yes they certainly will value your free feedback very highly maybe if you complain extra hard and really explain to them how to run their business they'll throw in a free watch for your troubles.

Seems cheap for an ultra luxury watch maker to charge for this. Swatch would do it for free and free battery changes.

It’s not a good look for a Patek AD to charge someone to change straps, kind of weak. They must not like you.

What are $65 to a $30K+ purchase? I would start looking for another AD honestly. |

If you bought the strap from them, I would consider poor form for them to be charging you to change. Actually appalling and cheap. The principle of it, they are cheap. I would pay it, and let them know they are cheap.

He bought it from HS NY. This affects my view. I'd just pay the $65 and be satisfied. I don't think the AD is doing anything particularly egregious given that it was purchased from a third party (and presumably could have been purchased from the AD). |

If OP didnt buy the watch and strap from the AD, it is fair game for the AD to charge for sizing the strap.
If this AD is a Patek AD and OP has a history of purchasing Patek watches from this AD, I can see the AD providing the service without a fee. OP states he has only purchased Rolex from the AD. In the eyes of the AD, the Patek customer and Rolex customers are quite different due to the margins they make from selling each brand. If OP paid full price on PM Rolex from the AD, then it may be a different story with the higher margins. |

To run with the big dogs, you gotta get off the porch. Pay the Patek asking fee or learn to do it yourself.
Just my thoughts.

If you bought the watch and/or strap from the AD it should be free.
If not, charging you is fair, but it means they don't think you are a whale...

Based on the combined hourly rate of our replies $65 is relatively inexpensive.
I would pay the money and enjoy my new strap. Or more likely fit it myself?

Most people who own these watches likely hire people to change lightbulbs and hang pictures. It's not unreasonable really and you can always blame them for scratches.
I do mine myself with a LOT of tape and a good Bergeon tip but it's a little stressful with steel tool vs gold. $65,000 and $48,000 were the highest value PM I have tried myself.
