I tend to agree.

You can justify just about anything but at the end of the day it’s your money to spend as you wish. I can think of worse things to spend many on

It depends on how long you want to wait. I believe price will come down. However, I think it will take 1-3 years and isn't a definite. I also believe if you want it now - just do it. I would try to get a price at or below $13k. I feel like the stabilization place will be around $13k over next year or so. But if you want to wait, do it. The reward is savings and the cost is more immediate satisfaction and having something on your wrist that you love right now. Good luck!

If you have the money and can afford to waste it go for it.

You can get one at msrp by waiting. I did. Even got a slight discount. :)

Sure, that’s true. (greys actually are VIP customers) But people like me sell to grey dealers as well. For a higher price than I originally paid from the AD. Again, they provide a service. I’ve taken advantage of their service by letting mine go so I could move up the chain. They paid me WAY more than the AD was willing to.

There is a price increase coming on watches that don't exist in ADs. This will only serve to further hike the grey prices. If you want it, buy it. I don't see them coming down anytime soon.

its a watch that is going to be in production for another 5-10 years.

If you MUST have it now and you think its worth the extra $6k on top of MSRP go for it.

I think this is way overhyped for a newly released watch with another decade of production probably left.

I dont pay premium for any of my watches and never have and never will. Its only a watch and there are plenty of other things I'd rather my $6k like holidays, hookers and blow.

Go for it. You work hard for your money and you deserve to get the watch you want when you want it. It’s a true stunner and worth every penny...especially when you’ll have it on your wrist vs endlessly hoping an AD will come through for you.

That’s why Daytonas are great, very classically deigned just like a Patek Nautilus. IWC ceramic chrono to me is over-designed. Breitling Navitimer as well. Though that’s why a lot of great brands to choose from.

Wait until Basel next year then decide on if you want to pay the premium. Something new May come out you like better you never know. You also do not know it any new watches will affect current pricing. I only say this because it is almost like you want to be talked out of it. I really wanted a new blnr and i decided to pay gray and I have no regrets but I was 110 percent sure. I did not care because I wanted the watch. I can not stress enough do not pull the trigger unless your sure.

Go for it if you like it, life is short. In my view, the retail price of pepsi is quite underpriced, it should cost more.

If it’s a fair market price, 100% go for it! You won’t have any regrets.

I’ve been wearing and enjoying “hard to get” watches purchased through trusted sellers for years, while others still wait for the call. Most have actually appreciated, not that it will continue or that it’s a reasonable argument, but point is, life is short. Even if the value you drops you will have enjoyed your watch every day and imo it’s worth the premium.

That said, it all depends on your AD and if you stand a shot at getting one. If it’s completely realistic to think you could have one in 6 months or less, I’d probably wait it out. If they won’t even take your name for the list, or they say years or more, go
For it !

Buy the watch if you have money, at worst you can sell it and get your money back or close to it. Scratch the itch and move on.

I'll chirp up what some others have said. You have to decide what the watch is worth to you. That may be the current market price or MSRP. I can give you my opinion. Yes, Rolex makes fine watches, no issue there. But even MSRP is too much now, and the prices are rising in Jan.

I am retired and don't have the income I once did, so I am more frugal. Frankly I don't think Rolexes, and many other brands, are worth (to me) MSRP. Tudor, Omega and others are fine watches and cost far less than Rolex.

I am not bad mouthing them. I have 6 and love them, but I am done.

My opinion is that if you want to own a BLRO, and you have no shot at getting one at the AD, at MSRP, then what other options do you have to purchase one? Price is irrelevant if there isn't another option to purchase one. So buy it, as you proposed, from a Re seller. Only other option is to try to list yourself at your local AD and wait. If you do get the call you sell one of the two and enjoy.

It’s a better value at MSRP, which is what I purchased mine at

Can’t say BLRO is worth current market price but I am not complaining.

While I have not paid above MSRP in the past I can certainly see the argument as to how it can be justified.

To all of those who say the market sets the price I agree with them. If the situation were reversed this of course wouldn’t be a conversation. For example my brother is looking to buy a Lange & Sohne. While the retail on the watch he likes is $50K he can find excellent examples in the low $30s. While there is an argument to buy the watch at retail from a AD it’s hard to advise him to not go grey and save close to $20K based on current market price.

We all want to pay less not more but like the stock market it’s hard to time these things. When Amazon stock hit $500 a share many thought the price was insane and only a fool would pay that price. Well if you had bought at that price you’d be sitting pretty. Not saying watches will take the same trajectory but those who claim to know the direction things will take are just making “educated” guesses.

Good luck with your decision. Full disclosure, I have the BLRO (which I got at retail) and love the watch. I do think it’s worth every penny I paid for it and in the end that’s what important, regardless of what that number was.

A
