Batman without a doubt.
I do not care for the bezel on the YM. Its a ding magnet and I find it hard to quickly read the bezel due to it not having a contracting color with the #s on the bezel and the bezel.

The Batman/Batgirl are so plain in my opinion. The YM40 , blue in particular, and the platinum bezel is beautiful! And far more unique, which I like.

The YM40 wears so sleek compared to the GMT, I love both but prefer the YM case.

Always thought I wanted the Batman. But after trying it (on Jubilee) and seeing a friend wear his (on Oyster)…it just didn’t hit for me. Perhaps the BLRO will someday.

With that said, I’m a fan of the underrated YM. Sleeker case (which I prefer), blue on the dial pops, and the platinum bezel is unique.

To each their own, but I would go YM Blue. I suggest you try on both…and see which sings to you more. Both are fantastic watches, so you really can’t go wrong with either.

Thanks guys for the inputs. I’ll go and try both at grey dealers today. Up to now, I still can’t make my mind. I definitely want both but one at a time. Just matter of which one should I go first considering:

1. Batman is harder to get from AD making it almost impossible for me to get the call as I dont have purchase history with my country’s ADs. Depreciation value maybe lesser for batman.

2. YM40 probably easier to get from ADs in the future if compare to batman but its price on grey is close to MSRP making it value for money now.

3. Batman is cheaper MSRP compared to YM40’s but it’s higher price in grey market.

So this time, should I go for ‘value-for-money’ (YM40) first or secure the ‘harder-to-get’ (Batman) first?

You have to try them both on, don’t fall for the hype. You’ll know really quickly but if you don’t get the Batman at retail and flip it after a month.

I feel like watches really pop after you take it home and wear them in different lighting situations. I wasn’t impressed with the BB58 at the AD but loved it in my day to day lighting environment.

Easy choice for me - the blue dial is amazing.

Tough choice. Of the two, I would take the Batman because I prefer the GMT. As others have said, however, do not fall for the hype. I made that mistake once, and it was a pain in the butt to rectify. One of our trusted sellers here really helped me out and got me the watch I should have had on my wrist all along. Good luck.

BLNR is my choice, but the YM 40 is worthy of consideration. A bit more unique.

I am dilemma between Batman or blue dial YM40. Both looks amazing to me but unsure which one should I go first.

Batman:
+ Good looking watch.
+ High demand model (I did not put this model with AD as I think chance is slim)
- 3 or 4 years old unit will costs about 1.5x of MSRP.

YM40:
+ Good looking watch as well especially the blue dial.
+ 2-3 years pre own is close as MSRP making it value for money.

What do you think guys? Which 1 should I go first?

Went grey for mine. Paid US$11,990 for a preowned 2022 full set, so slightly under current MSRP.

Used to own a 126711CHNR and sold it to buy this YM blue dial instead.

Didn’t need the GMT function.

No regrets. Far more comfortable on the wrist as compared to the GMT-master 2.

Try them both on. They wear differently due to the curved case on the YM. I would think one would stand out over the other once on your wrist.

The platinum bezel looks awful over time.
BLNR for that reason and its cooler.

I had the chance to try both the SS and TT YM40s in all dial configurations in 2021 at the AD and I went with the TT...love my chocolate dial. In general I find the YM40 way better than the GMT's, it has a more curved and comfortable case.

Finding the replies on this thread generally not going the way I thought they would!

I posted early favouring the YM40, fully expecting to be in an eventual minority trounced by the nickname loving GMT herd!

That hasn’t happened though (well not yet anyway!), & so far it seems the YM is edging it.

Thinking about it, one of my mates has a slate YM40 & a Pepsi. The Pepsi spends most of its life boxed, as he prefers to wear the YM.

Interesting stuff…..

They are both great watches, but a YM40 w/bright blue dial would be my choice...

If you don’t need the added complication of the gmt, then YM.

My reasoning behind this is:

YM is more versatile, works way better in an elegant setting and is more luxurious, but you can dress it down as well.

It’s also much more rare to see around - batman / batgirl are everywhere. ( that’s if it matters to you )

Another huge reason for me is comfort - it’s wayyyy more comfortable on the wrist than the gmt, it’s probably the most comfortable watch that Rolex makes rn.

To be honest, I wouldn’t make a decision based on what we say here, go and try them both in-store and I’m sure you’ll know.

Good luck and post a pic once you get it

Nickname loving GMT herd? Why so aggressive? If you like your watch just be happy.
