This is incorrect, it is a highly sought piece at MRSP. Try to buy one and you'll find out.

Just out of curiosity does anyone know whether Platinum DD received a price increase in this last hike?

It might not be orderable right now because they stopped taking orders for DD and DJ but a year back I could put an order down for any DD, I expect you should be able to do it again later this year if and when covid calms down.

Anyway congrats to the OP, just I think this is a great relationship builder piece which can get you more stuff from an AD.
OP's watch is a 2021 model, new version, Ice blue with Romans and Blue second hand, no quadrant. Only one is available on Chrono 24 as of today, price upon request. Blue second-hand dials are 85K plus. Tough watch to get, I should know, I added one to my collection, 2021 with Baguettes. If you can find them in the 60s grab all you can! Congrats OP, job well done!!

Great

Post pics after getting it. I assume the time goes rather slowly while you are waiting your grail coming next week.

You can find plenty in the 60s with an older dial, question is do you want to allocate a large part of your collection to platinum DDs. If you believe in them then put your money where your mouth is. Only way I'd buy them all up is if platinum prices exploded to be at least their historical ratio.

Their MSRP didn't increase (minimal if any) for a reason, because PT prices have been low for so long and the high demand for the metal or the watch isn't there. At the 85k+ range I'd look for a platona, AP or gem set.
85k for a Platona, PM AP, gem set Rolex doesn’t exist. Try 85x2+++

I'm with you I cant stand the Daytona without a date. The day/date is actually a very useful complication.

This is the one watch that could be it for many.

Eye roll. This is the first page of gem set Platonas on Chrono24 and the cheapest option on the platform is £110k or $150k

Notwithstanding the fact that as I said having owned 2 Daytonas they’re not for me.

I love this reference. I’ve admired it for years, wish I jumped on the quadrant motif before it got discontinued. Ordered this one today, (228206-044), I hope I have before year end or another price hike.

The watch is a 2021, new dial and new second hand. I see your point now, buy an older version swap everything out, and maybe fool a few, that my friend is a poser. Yes I believe in them, I put my money where my mouth is, please find my watch pic below. Precious metal prices have no bearing on the price of Rolex PM watches, they only go in one direction, up. From stepping back and looking in I agree with your point, yes no demand for the watch and besides it just isn't there. I must say I feel honored, you are sharing two of your 30 posts per year with humble little old me. I will be ditching all of my watches and hoping you, with your impeccable taste can direct me in a more positive direction in building my collection. Why you felt the need to rain on the OP's parade, in your posts is so beyond me. Please post some pics of your watches, I'm sure we aren't worthy.

That ice blue dial with sans serif Romans is beautiful!

Are the indices on Pt watches made from the same 18ct white gold Rolex uses for other models?

I think the last sans serif Romans used outside of the current DD range were on DJs from the 90s - anyone know more?

As far as I know they’re made from the same White Gold. I do love the “font” of the numerals, it makes the watch look so modern. I didn’t know they used it before, great knowledge!
