Hi all,

I new to this forum.
I would like to ask for help on me decide to buy an old Yacht-master 40mm. ( 16622). And I was wondering on the bezel, what is the purpose of it, I mean it turns, then does it goes back . ?
Does the years really matter, ( i know it old and wear and tears, but beside that.. is the new version and has ...?)

Please help.

That really is a stunning watch. YM's in general are, but that one has the uniqueness factor working for it too.

Thanks for the great comments all.

Just remember if you are going to get a MOP dial on any Rolex, make sure that you see it in person first. There is a vast difference between them and, unless you are very lucky, it will take some searching to get just the one you want.

nice watch! Im quite new to Rolex, planning to get it soon, not sure which model. Im considering SS Sub in black, YM in grey, or EXPII in white. question about YM in grey, apparently its with platinum in it? can anyone explain please how good platinum is, compared to gold for example. I know that gold can easily be scratched, so i really want to go for a stainless steel, but, what about platinum?

It's not much platinum, just the bezel insert, the rest of the watch is 904L SS. It comes extreamly polished so fine scratches come quick. mine is scratched all to hell on the clasp and around the bracelet but I am hard on it. I have to say it still looks very good. the 904l holds up better than early watches. the insert has no scratches. I did develop a moisture leak that i am trying to figure out. but I think its a freak thing.

The 14060M is often overlooked because of the lack of a date feature. My wife remarked the other day that she uses the date function on her Datejust more than the time. Unfortunately, I’m the guy who has to adjust the date every other month or after two days in the jewelry box. While I wouldn’t mind upgrading to a Sea-Dweller, not having to babysit the date is a plus for me.

I appreciate the review and share the same feelings as I have recently purchased YM White MOP with rubies. Great watch.

The Rolex Yacht-Master. SS/18K Black MOP Dial Reply to Thread

Great review. I really enjoyed reading every line. More so because I recently
(11th September 2010 ) purchased my third Rolex YM SSYG white MOP dial with rubies. It is an instant hit among my Rolex admiring friends. I can well understand / share your feelings about this great watch. My other two are both DAY DATE with President bracelet with crown clasp. Look forward to reading more reviews. Cheers.

Thanks to Stevo Lol-x for putting the links to the photos back in for me. I screwed them up in Flickr somehow.

Thanks Steve!

YM clasp

Hi, great review, thanks!

I'm planning to buy a YM for my girlfriend but am slightly put off by the old fashioned steel clasp. I have the new 116610 sub with glidelock - does anyone think the YM clasp will be updated anytime soon? Perhaps Basel 2012?

I have not heard whether Rolex will update the clasp.

I personally don't mind the clasp as it is as it blends in so well with the bracelet / links underneath. But the glidelock would be convenient.
