I will never understand people who buy watches as a form of investment, but as you say each to their own.

That said if you'd have done that 7 years ago with rolex you'd probably think different. 7 years ago you could get discounts on most SS models. If I'd have known I would have invested everything I had into rolex. Today I wouldn't. Seems the OP had his head screwed on to me. |

I would love to be able to buy a piece still in the coffin and throw it in the safe for my son someday. I know a few guys have been able to.

I got my sd4k from 2015 and still wears and loves it today! Certainly my favorite in the ceramic range and era. Wear in great health too!

The 116600 is just a watch to most people, a sub to the untrained eye and something very special to those who pay attention to detail. Ceramic, non-Cyclopes tool watch. Enjoy it and just smile every time someone calls it a Submariner.

I get it. People can and do in fact make money on an item such as a Rolex. But if you do your homework, or hire an investment counselor, investing in the stock market for example is not looking into the future as you state. You will get much more return on your investment in something like the stock market vs. a Rolex (unless it's an extremely rare watch such as the Paul Newman). The average annual return for the S&P500 for the past 70+ years is 10.26%. That's 70 years worth of data, and not just using a crystal ball. Heck, there's no guarantee a Rolex will go up in value either. |

On the whole I agree, however, also understand that people can do as they wish and I'm not in a position to tell them otherwise. The problem also lies mainly with rolex not the person buying the watch. Rolex could easily match demand imo.... When the OP bought the watch the demand wasn't really there like we've seen recently so it's a mute point. Everyone's a financial expert on this platform.... No need for financial investors 😂 |

It also requires a deep sense of self-control to keep a watch with stickers for years.
But the reward is great. I now wear a brand new SD4K (what a bracelet compared to 5 digit series !)
