I'm interested in getting a Day-Date, but being primarily used to "sports" watches, I'm not completely sure... Even if the Day-Date sings to me, it's as if it sings into my half-deaf ear at the moment... (I don't have a half-deaf ear BTW )

I'm 29, going to be 30 this year. Supposedly look younger... So would a day-date be out of place on me? It's a 18248 model, bark and no diamonds.

What is to young? When you can afford it, why not?
I say buy it, good ones(mint+papers/box and no stretch bracelets) are hard to find!
