There is an interesting story here related the supply chain problems of the past ~2 years. This AD was supposed to open this boutique last fall, but due to the fact that they could not get the appropriate display materials-(we all know that Rolex has exacting display standards)- they had to pay rent for over a year-unable to open. I'm glad that they finally are open (this is my AD, a good one).

I find the comments about appropriate dress comical…or at least regional. I am currently visiting New York City and made the rounds yesterday stopping into Wempe, their Boutique across the street, WOS Hudson Yards, and the new Tourneau Boutique in the Meatpacking District. It’s cold right now, everyone is dressed in jeans, a winter coat, and appropriate walking shoes. You would look silly in a suit walking around on a Saturday. I was treated nicely at all of them and two asked me what I was wearing, only then rolling up my sleeve to show my Daytona.
My mission was hoping to see an exhibition Coral Red OP in any size, I am waiting on one but have only seen it under artificial AD mall lighting. All of the stores I visited have at least some sunlight coming in but it soon became obvious that all stores have the same display models and their only OP is green.
I did look at some other brands in the non boutiques.

I didn’t understand the posts regarding it either. I think it comes down to your demeanor more than dress.

Ah, I know you’ve been after that OP for some time. Hope it comes through for you soon! I’ll be collecting mine in a few weeks.

Looks like a nice AD. We had the Boston boutique open earlier this year. Waiting for one in Portsmouth, NH to open soon (I hope).

They had a two tone sub and a dssd. Im sure they had way more other stuff in the back. Lease was being paid for years so they would have had to have 20-40 watches.

Where I live is a year-round tourist area of much affluence.
'Most' everyone here dresses very casually for general day to day shopping.
And the local AD's treat shoppers all the same regardless of level of dress.
But if they waited for the business attire only, . . . let's just say that isn't feasible here.
It is all relative.
I dress in <clean> jeans and a pullover 'T', plus sneakers, and have purchased everything from Rolex Sky-Dweller to Hamilton to Tudor to Grand Seiko with no difference in treatment by the stores. At the Cartier, Omega and Breitling stores the treatment is the same, but I have not yet purchased there.

Attention to dress code is more an European phenomenon, as far as I know.

New TRF threads should totally revolve around “what should I wear” to see empty shelves.

At OP, do you think/know if previous history at the chains multi brand stores will carry over or do they plan to reset all history at the standalone botique? Curious how they decide to play it with WOS juggernaught now coming into the market.

I don’t know why but that photo is funny to me. A bunch of watch bros waiting in line to see empty cases.

Regarding the sub-plot of this thread, the dress code - men in Europe just generally dress less casually than Americans. It’s not that Europeans dress up to go into an AD, they’re just already dressed well. (Of course that’s just a generalization.) As such, the employees in an American AD don’t think twice about their clientele wearing jeans and sneakers.

I was told by the former Timeless employees who all went with the sale to WOS, that they won’t have access to Rolex for about a year. Its essentially the same staff with Vijo as the manager. What’s interesting is that after having bought a significant number of watches from Timeless over the years and having access to most of their hard to get models, when I inquired about the wait list for a particular watch last week, I was told they would have to go to Corporate and they would make the determination. I get it and understand, but I think the pool just got a lot bigger for anyone who shopped regularly at Timeless and was used to a more personalized level of service. I would assume the process is similar with other acquisitions. Completely fair and certainly their right, I’m just going to miss the “family” feeling as more of the larger companies buy out the family owned operations. Bachendorfs has been my local AD for 10 years. If I am ever interested in another Rolex, it will be interesting to see if my history carries over to the new boutique.

You directed me towards Timeless to get my Brian May Seiko a while back. The service by phone was friendly and efficient, I hope the staff who stays keeps their cheerful demeanor.
I stopped into both WOS stores in New York yesterday and today. I was looking at brands other than Rolex and the two SA’s were both true watch guys who were a pleasure to chat with. The guy in Hudson Yards was sporting a Panerai and the guy today in Soho had a gorgeous gold vintage Tudor. I left my information with him to give me a call when they receive a new Oris reference. I think I might of made an impulse buy today had it been in stock.

The staff is great and I have no doubt it will continue under WOS. It was just a bit of a wake up call not being able to call Dan about reference and work out a deal. Going to miss the glass of Mac 12 or Balvenie he handed me every time I walked in the door as well! Not sure WOS will be able to duplicate that unique Timeless experience, but I will certainly continue to shop there and who knows, change isn’t always a bad thing!

Ohhh, Hausmann & Co. That's where I bought my very first Rolex. It was a white dial Roman numeral ss Datejust 16234. What a great store.

OK, so I need to wear a suit to see a Rolex?
The 1st time I bought one, I was going home from work & was wearing a suit.
The 2nd time, I walked into an AD in a resort town in Switzerland & was wearing cold weather ski wear.
Now, I'm retired & walk in to look & they don't like my Jeans, I'll show them my YG Day Date!
Remember, we in Texas are usually more casual than Yankees. You never know if we'll dip in our jeans & pull out $20k in cash.

Man glad I don’t live in Europe then! Who cares what you wear? People work from home these days. I picked up my BLNR in my sweatpants.

I would think being a client at the boutique will be your best chances for future references.

A walking cane would be a great addition to that ensemble. How could an AD not take us seriously in that costume.

I’m here for my BLRO!
