I have Rolexes with cyclops and wanted a sports watch without. SD4K is perfect for me as is the size red text or without. I needed a watch that was a little different than the norm. Congrats! I prefer the 126600 to the 116600 personally. A 6.5in flat wrist is probably the limit to wear a 50mm lug to lug piece. No overhang, you're good! .

2 things though,

You state the SD43 has a 1mm larger bracelet width. I believe it is 1.6mm

Second, you mention the SD43 wears better because of its longer lugs. I would say larger, not longer as propotionatly, the 116600 and 126600 have the same lug length, while the Submariner has longer lugs (not sure about the Deep Sea)

If I'm reading your reply correctly, you are saying the 116600 and the 126600 "have the same lug length". Ummm.....no they don't. The length of the lugs is longer on the 126600. I 126600 is longer by a bit (can't recall exactly, but it's around 1.5mm or so, maybe longer. The 126600 is bigger in just about every dimension to that of the 116600. I own both!

Or, am I not reading your reply right (respectfully)?

I went back and re- read your article, mostly to look at the pictures. I had the dssd when it first came out and it didn't stay very long, just too much metal on my wrist. Your pics are very good and the best comparisons I have seen, it really show how much larger the 43 is over my sd. I know I would have to touch one before I could ever pull the trigger on this one.

Thanks for the helpful review! (At the risk of attracting the ire of others readers with this statement) I find the standard 40mm size to be too small, and would be keen for the SD43 to be my first Rolex...though may need to pick up a blue face 116660 to tide me over until availability improves

I'm not very keen on either because Rolex have placed the date window too far from the edge of the dial (or too close to the centre), to my eye. It's jarring. As I said in another thread, the SD would look a lot nicer without a date complication.

I prefer the classic DSSD & Great Whites, personally, but to each, his own.

As the owner of every Rolex diver, let me simply say this. Once you put one any of them on, and wear it non stop for a couple weeks, they all feel and perform the same.

Me personally, if I didn't have the SD4K or the SD43, my first focus would be the SD4k. There will be TONS of SD43 around.

Good point. I sourced a BNIB SD4k but just need to wait a few months to buy. If it is not there, then I will go to plan B.
