Hi Milton, Mine is exactly the same, No 139 at the back. I have it since 1979. I had another one prior to this but I left it with Comex Fareast when I left. 139 was given to me by Marseille.
Unfortunately it stopped tickling and there is no Comex agent over here. The nearest one is in Port Vlla in Vanuatu. It will have to waite until I travel to OZ or to EE...

Thanks for posting. You will realise that you have a very interesting and significantly valuable watch, of course. The ones with Comex logo on the dial sadly recognise even higher prices, but you still have a little treasure. I'm sure many of us would love to see some pictures of yours or to hear a little more of your own / the watch's diving history.

Don't ask me how, but I expect your watch's unique case number (between the lugs at the six o'clock end, hidden by the bracelet) ends in xxxxx67, yes?

In any event, please do not have any work carried out by anyone, even a Rolex main agent or service centre, without refering back here so that we may just help you avoid any pitfalls that can catch the unwary.

I suspect that we will know a few figures in common from the world of professional diving in those decades!

COMEX is a famous Diving company that lay cables in deep sea.
all divers from COMEX received these watches - but they are not a lot of them

While buying a recent watch I was passed a 1665 Comex to try on, It had a beautiful faded bezel that was almost light metallic blue, all matching lume, looked unpolished and I believe matching provenance..

Truly beautiful watch and I didn't realise the value until I had a look around sales once home, out of my league but still a nice experience to handle one.

Values can feel like a rising tide covering all our heads at the moment...but we can still appreciate them!

I generally find that the story and condition of each Comex makes it unique, even where on paper they should be "the same." Consider my two 1665s, which have very close Rolex case numbers and Comex numbers:

The watches are from the very same consignment, but they have very different histories and provenance with their issued owners, and look at their dials! They are the correct, original 600m (not 610m) version that was unique to Comex. One has rested in a safe for recent years while the other was worn regularly. The difference in patination is striking!

One off my friends did the deep dive with Comex .
Not the 701msw but the 650msw dive .
He still has his watch too along with his log books .
Wonder what that would be worth .
