I’ll be honest, I have a BLNR because I can’t afford a smurf. Smurf is my favorite sport model since I love blue and would be on my wrist right now if it was SS. Can’t afford PM right now so went for the next best thing which is the blnr that I still love.

OP, I would try to find an AD that has a LN gmt available to try on. SS gmt and a PM sub wear completely different and you should try them on before buying. But I’m sure you would choose smurf because it just feels so much more special than SS.

You have blue fever! I'd go Smurf if you can comfortably swing it. I find the shade of blue combined with the hue of the white gold amazing. The white gold also has a subtle yellow gold under tone in bright light. Do get a discount on a Smurf as depreciation is steeper (as it for all PM models). BLNR is nice too, but not in the same league imho. Good luck in your decision. Cheers!

Apologize, was boarding a plane and didn’t pay attention you mentioned BLNR. For some reason I had a brain skip and read it BLRO
I have the BLNR but would still do the smurf
It’s a gorgeous watch!

If you prefer a few good pieces, the smurf is an excellent choice. White gold has a brighter appearence compared to stainless steel. The blue dial varies from smurf blue to a darker blue indoors. It is precious metal and can be worn in a variety of settings. The glide lock allows for infinite adjustments. It is a grail watch for many here.
I also have the blnr. It is an excellent watch. Some like the polished links. Others will say pcl’s are a little flashy. It has a simplied extension. Most like it. I prefer glide lock. It has a gmt function of course. It is also a watch which can be dressed up or down. Both are great watches. Good luck!

A lot of people seem to be voting maxima here lol. Prob because the maxima has a waiting list and you can make $1000 flipping it vs the prestige of the Porsche but also depreciation. Funny times we live in where hype outweighs everything

Buy the Smurf if money isn’t an issue. The blue bezel/dial is amazing, plus you can have it on your wrist tomorrow!

Not comparable. One is full WG and triple the price and the other is SS.

Smurf will win each and every time.

Smurf is amazing. But for the money. Get a BATMAN and HULK instead of SMURF.

Precious metal watch feel is quite different. You mentioned having a few pieces in your collection. But having one precious metal watch, and in your case with ceramic bezel, might be the only watch you need. I have noticed that it is the best feeling when you have the ”right” watch and wear it most of the time. White gold blue dial submariner might be the one for you.

I am still seeking the right ones. I have found 2, Platinum DD and Explorer II. Al other i have i like a lot, but not like the 2 mentioned.

If you can afford the smurf as your first Rolex, then you shd get the smurf and have the AD order a BLNR for you as a bundle. I’m sure the blnr will be available to you pretty soon after you purchase the smurf. Both the pieces can Co exist well together in a collection as a sub-gmt combo. The smurf is less common as well and that blue is unique.

Tried on a BLNR at an AD before the craze and went for the GMT tt because the former didn't work for me. I suggest you try it on first.

Due to cost, the smurf would be less rare but to be honest not a lot of ADs have one in stock either. It's still sought after by a smaller pool of folks who can afford it.

From your two choices I would vote smurf all day every day...but I would agree with this and give the BLRO a shot before you make your final decision.

With the money you're going to spend, you want to be sure it's the one.

Absolutely horrible analogy. It's not Maxima vs Porsche. It's more like Porsche 911 Carrera vs. Porsche 911 GT2 RS .

Thanks, that's good advice. I'll try the AD again -- so hard to find one to try on where I'm at

That's exactly what I was thinking -- I just want a few watches that I love and wear a lot and the WG sub could fit the bill. Thanks for your input.
