It's easy:

Gold is softer than platinum
White metal is definately more versatile
Platinum blends scratches quite well
Lume is better than no lume

I'm a YG man for dressier watches. My Daytona is platinum.

The second one. Absolutely no question. That’s a daily wearer... for the rest of your life. It’s perfect. It’s subtle, classic, dressy, sporty. If I had that much coin, I’d buy it no question.

Platinum for me. YG is hard to wear in Europa, except maybe in sunny countries like Spain or Italy. And I'll go for roman but with fluted bezel...

Glacier with Roman. The new dial is too busy. I like the blue touch on Roman markers.

Personally I’d go for the gold DD and take the extra cash and double down on one maybe two other watches. But that’s just me as I don’t personally get any extra value on the platinum vs. gold for the difference in price.

I own the YG with Diamond markers and I still voted for the Platinum with Motif Dial.... its that beautiful! You truly can't go wrong with either of those watches thou. I'm not a big fan of the romans, just makes the face seem busy. If only the platinum came with the fluted bezel, it would fit my wants perfectly!

I'm in the same dilemma right now, but I'm leaning between rose gold and a platty. The glacier blue is just unbeatable.

For many years I've been a white metal kind of guy, which for me has meant stainless steel, but since I bought my YG Date a couple of weeks back, I've been all agog with its beauty.

In this case I'd have to vote for the Rolex DayDate 228238 YG with DIA.

It's out of character for me, but I'm sticking with it.

This^^^ I was seriously driving down the road today and thinking how I could buy a little older YG DD (118238) with SEL's, and still have enough left to put toward the RG DD I want with the savings of not going with 118206 Platty.

Plus, I'm worried about the extra weight of the platinum. The 36mm DD in gold is just such a comfortable watch to wear.

Did you go with 36 or 40mm?

I bought a vintage YG Date, circa 1974, which is 34mm and I love it.

I'm old enough to remember when 34mm was quite the norm for dress watches.

In fact, just twenty years ago, it was still a popular size for a dress or field watch.

Well done. I think I'm going to stick with 36mm on this one and move up to 40mm after the prices chill a bit.

I would have voted YG with sticks, but wasn't one of your options, so voted platinum with sticks. Though not a bad choice in the bunch.

Platinum for sure. Torn on the dials. Rolex should offer more of the 36 and 41mm dials. The diamond sticks are pretty cool.... Have fun choosing!
