Apparently the Ancient Greeks didn't even notice it.

Blue is the number 1 favourite colour worldwide. In the watch world, I think blue stands a good chance to be just as classic as black and white/cream/silver.

I think blue is a safe color and has and will stand the test of time. I think unique pieces with blue dials will do fine but a run of the mill Datejust will be just that.
Every time I see a blue faced watch I think of a Seiko. I don’t know when or where my brain made that association but it’s stuck with me and I don’t particularly like a blue faced watch. I do like the ice blue color on the platinum offerings.

Trust me I asked but my AD is not giving me the green 5711 haha. I have lost a few nights of sleep but life goes in.

In fact, they are outsold and way harder to find than any of the same models in other colors (white, black, etc.)

It seems like this is true with almost any watch these days, even blue Datejusts are out of stock and dress watches are showing up in blue much more than they ever were.

I’m curious to hear from folks here. In 10, 15, 20 years, do you think people will be looking at blue watches as a timeless thing? Or do you think they’ll revert to white, black (maybe silver and gold)? And blue will look less desirable and aesthetically pleasing in the future?

I love the idea of buying less watches but keeping them for LIFE, so am concerned about investing a huge amount into a blue watch to be a lifelong watch. But not sure if that’s a singular concern or if others share it.
This is some next level overthinking. People love the color blue in all it’s different shades. What makes you think it’s some kind of fad? Moreover, I can’t imagine not getting a blue watch if I wanted one because I’m worried it won’t be a good investment, which is what the root of these questions always goes back to…

I think the classic blue Rolex dial is a timeless color.
The green dials so popular today, not so much.

I've always loved the blue face watches and am in the market for the two-tone Submariner with the blue dial. One of my favorite watches is a blue faced Tag Heuer diver that I bought about 20 years ago - still love it.
