Purchasing authenticating and Servicing a watch with a few months left on warranty.

Eventually, the watch was returned to my brother and the trusted dealer refunded the purchase price of 10 years ago (not the value now) to the buyer . THe buyer got lucky because his trusted dealer was still around 10 years later and stood behind it. I don't want to rely that one of the trusted dealers here will be available to refund the $ to me in 10 years. I want to verify it with ROlex now. The only way that I am aware it can be done is if is serviced.
