I am not sure why some are so obsessed with value - it's a watch. You can either afford it or you can't.

Buy it, it's a nice watch. Looks great and has a clever mechanism.

I have had mine for about 3 years now and it continues to not only hold but increase in value. The most stunning dial of any watch with a wrist presence that is second to none.

SkyD trumps GMT II for me. Any variant.

I paid the premium, and I do not care that people are whining that one never should, this was my only way to get a blue Sky.

I sold my white sky for it and never regretted it! Buy what you want and forget the rest

So do it !

SS SkyD blue is the only timepieces i paid over MSRP for, and glad i did. The movement is incredible! Accuracy-wise got lucky as she is -7 seconds a month(!).

Cool watch and at retail I would consider. My personal preference is the white dial. I have a lot of blue dial watches.

Another "will the watch hold its value" thread.... :)

Oh well.

Some watches are highly overrated cause of hype...Some live up to that hype, others don't. No one has a crystal ball.
I personally dont pursue anything am not in love with.
But i have to admit the blue dials on rolexes are captivating. My first Rolex was the DJ41 with blue dial and fluted bezel, i cant stop looking at it. Beautiful piece.
I am not willing to give up my nuts for a Blue face Skydweller but if one comes my way, I won't hesitate to acquire it and slap some leather straps on it....oooouuuuuiiiiiiiii

Beautiful watch. Check out white and black dials as well. You may be surprised as to which dial you prefer.

The blue dial Sky dweller is a highly sought after piece. Too big for me, but I handled one a while ago at a Grey dealer and loved it. It’s stunning, I doubt you’ll be disappointed no matter what light you view it in.

Too large for me; the blue is too trendy as well. I owned one and sold it. I much, much prefer the platinum blue. JMHO.

It’s a great watch. I had a TT for a while and it wears great (albeit not for shrinking violets).

Your choice on the colour. Every blue dial I have owned I have sold. I tire of them Eventually. I like the white in the sky D most. More an off white and a good contrast to the many black watches many of us own.

I would really like one but if my AD called and offered the SS with white or black dial, I would buy that...I would also consider a TT with any dial also...

Have you seen one in person and tried it on your wrist? I consider that to be a holy grail watch, yet I see a quite a few ppl looking to sell, for the price I would try and locate one you can see touch and try on your wrist, personally I thinks its a very nice rolex

I had the choice between the blue and the white SkyD about 3 years ago just after they came out. I ummed and arrd for over an hour. Outside in brilliant sunlight and inside under the jewellers articial arc lights the blue dial won the day but... in normal natural light like you would experience most of the time, I struggled to read the dial (the same can be said for most of these sunburst designs). That's when I realised that for long term practical purpose not allowing form over function to cloud my judgement I realised that the white dial was the most practical and when you are spending these kind of sums on a single watch, believe me when I tell you that you have to weigh lots of things up. Interestingly, by way of comparison, when Rolex introduced the Black and the White dial versions of the OP39 last year, suddenly everyone was raving about them - especially the white and saying how much more stylish it was than the various plum/rhodium/grape options with coloured accents. Put that white OP39 next to the white SkyD and you can immediately see the similarity. Goes to show how fickle people can be and how driven we are by other people's opinion. Buy the blue if you want, it's a great looking watch but it really does depend what you want it for. If you are trying to make a quick buck then quite possibly that is the route to take but if you want it for your own use then maybe think about the alternatives. Rolex don't make white dials because they think people dislike them. Rember this also, all these colours come and go as trends change. The next decade could see red becoming the colour of choice. But no matter what, white and black to a slightly lesser extent will always be on the menu.

Who cares??? Value and retention are important factors for a lot of people. So it isn't for you - good for you. Live and let live.
