I had purchased a K-series GMT-II 16710 in early 2003 and it came with SELs and lug holes.

When I got my late Y-series TT Blue Sub later that same year, the lug holes had vanished.

I currently have a pair of 16710LN with SEL and lug-holes (not for long - on the sales forum). They are a P and a Y-serial shown with my recently acquired '68 Tudor Sub.

Seriously, every day I wonder whether I should get a Coke GMT instead of a Sea-Dweller. My conditions are that it would have to be a lug-holes case, SEL and SuperLuminova.

I should have mentioned, that those who like to wear Nylon straps will probably have an easier time removing the bracelet from a holes-case. However it is easier yet with the pre-SEL watches as they have more flex at the end piece - advantageous in this case.

I am not sure this holds for all the SEL cases (or possibly exacerbated by pin thickness), but from my experience, there is less room between the pin and the case to thread a nylon strap. One NATO strap I use is so tight, it is easiest to remove the pins to install.

The SEL refers to the solid-end-links which came out in the early 2000s. Prior to this the end links were stamped steel and the bracelet end is more like a simple loop of steel instead of a 3-dimmensional machined piece like on the SEL.

hey crew, i figured this would be the thread to announce my new acquisition...

it's a PRISTINE p-serial 16710 that i purchased for a great price off of another rolex wearer here in honolulu. he kept it in a safety deposit box since purchasing it, and i think he's on his way to purchasing a daytona. previously i've had lug holes and hollow end links, and then sel with no lug holes. now i've finally landed with the best of both worlds. so... with no further ado... this is a great thread by the way...
