Be sure to watch Patek's video about the 5212! Some amazing info there. Particularly one of the innovations in this new movement, their anti-backlash third wheel to reduce jitter in the seconds hand.

Congrats! what a great pick up. And be ready to blow past your strap budget!

No one (not even PP) has yet to articulate why the dial week begins on Sunday, yet ISO 8601 states the day of the week begins on Monday ~ quoted on page 12 of the manual.

I'm going to do a poor job of explaining this, but the Salon described it to me this way: think of 12 as the "0 position" with the first increment being clockwise of 12. 12:01 is the first minute that ends back at 60 minutes. 1pm is the first hour that ends back at 12pm. Week 1 is the first week that ends back at 53. Since Sunday is aligned to 12, Monday is actually the first weekday clockwise of 12 that ends back at Sunday in the "0 position". Confused yet?

Here is a photo of the red strap I also picked up!

Congrats on the 5212a! It's a great watch, very under the radar. I've been considering a bright-colored strap for mine -- please post photos when you have it on the red alligator!

The week number indicator increments when the weekday changes from Sunday to Monday, so I think the movement is respecting ISO 8601.

It was perhaps a questionable choice to have Sunday bifurcated at 12 o'clock, making us all question whether it's the first or last weekday on the dial

Sunday is the first day of the week in Christianity - plain and simple. There's no need to beat around the bushes and try to find a scientific explanation. I will also remind everyone that the Patek logo is a cross so there, you have it.

Sincere thanks to everyone for their input and strap recommendations. When I switch to the red alligator strap, I will definitely post photos for people to see. So far, I have been really enjoying this watch more than I expected.

Indeed Sunday is the first day for Christianity, but not according to ISO standards (quoted in the manual) nor continental Europe.

Congrats on the 5212. It's a great under the radar piece with tons of strap versatility. Mine says hello. It's on a 5224R strap.

Congratulations! Love all the strap options available for that watch from PP. And it really changes up the look/feel of the thing.

I especially like the complication here. Useful to some of us in the workforce on a day to day basis.

Sorry for the late reply; I have been away. Thanks for all of your kind words and for sharing photos. It's great to see quite a few members also own it with some great strap choices.

Thanks for the link to the video. The functions and fine details in this movement are incredible.

Congratulations
I like the black strap mostly for it's inconspicuousness
Enjoy your piece in health

Be curious to see what happens to this ref and if Patek will discontinue it. There’s been talk about that for some years now.
