Zero but I'm already in for two watches; trying to keep it at that.

I usually buy 2 watches a year with circa £30k budget.
Which is what I planned to do this year.
Today budget for watches: ZERO.

My collection stays at a certain number. If I want something over $1k, something has to go.

Was previously planning to add an Explorer to the collection to celebrate my 40th later this summer, and also a JLC MUT Moonphase to celebrate a recent professional milestone. Now, I’m sitting tight on all spare cash until this crisis abates.

My Smurf is on order and I hope to get it this year, but that’s it for me. Already have a Nomos on the shelf for my wife for our 15th anniversary this year - scored serial # 15 on a LE model for her.

Was planning a Lange & Sohne 1815 Chrono but canned all buying except stocks once this thing shows a little sign of improving. Anyone with any decent amount of cash can really make some money here. Now is not the time for watch purchases

But there are a couple family college graduations and a potential wedding.
So you never know!

The $30K neighborhood, but to be fair, a good portion of that is rollover from last year that the AD hasn't...uh... "gotten" yet.

I’ve ordered a Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time, and want to buy a 216570 Explorer II Polar. That’ll be it for this year.

By the end of the year, the goal is to have a ceramic white dial Daytona. I recently purchased a BLNR at a good deal. Will either keep it or try to trade to get me my Daytona. But I'm reaching out to several AD's so we'll see. Chances are slim but I've got a goal & I have some time.

How is your budget for watches in 2020?
Is it going down because of the coming recession?
Going up because you can't go on vacation anyway and you might as well use that money, so what’s the plan?
My budget for this year was going to be about $15-20K but that may change depending on how long this Coronavirus lockdown lasts and how messed up the economy gets.

I’ve got a sum set aside for a sub date......honestly I’d hold off and invest it in the market, but I want something to signify my daughter’s birth next month :)

Comments like this are honestly laughable. I would even go as far as saying the VAST majority of individuals I know who own a Rolex make under 6 figures. Your average Rolex buyer doesn’t buy one per year, he or she has saved a few years and it’s a commemorable purchase. Also, let’s not forget geographical location.....you understand $80k in some places is more than $150k in NYC/LA.

This sense of elitism that’s exuded is kind of disappointing. Because 100% this means you would look at somebody who nets $75k per year and think ‘they can’t afford a Rolex’.

It’s funny, I’m next at my AD for an extremely hard to get piece. In reality the $$ isn’t the issue as much as the feeling of being irresponsible and wasteful in this current economic situation. So my watch budget covers this piece, maybe one or two more smaller fun pieces, but not really committed to having a watch budget at all right now. Maybe my watch budget is zero...?

I think another 3-4 weeks and everyone’s out look will be much clearer. We’ll have a much better idea just how bad the market is going to get, or if it will stabilize a bit. Right now it’s a crapshoot

The answers in this thread says it all, there’ll be a massive drop in demand.

The question is what falls faster, demand or supply (supply is currently winning due to shutdown).

Pretty much like the conundrum in natural gas markets between declining demand but also declining supply due to no associated gas being produced

Like every year, at some moment a particular watch reference attracts my interest and I (try to) change my small collection. Some call that flipping which always sounds like a negative word. But who cares.....?
