I guessing/hoping he at least had a chance to see a display model before indicating his interest to purchase. Still, it is a little curious that they won’t let him see what he’s buying.

Not sure what the circumstances are, but certainly not my experience.

I was told not to expose in public, sorry.

Nope, didn't get to see before he paid. It was a watch on his list tho.

Did you get offer from PP Boston store too? He is a loyal customer with Long's for 10+ years.

I have a heavy Rolex collection that covers sports watches very well. This will be my first and Long’s has been great about working with me to find a good fit.

The store/boutique is gorgeous!

I don't particularly see anything wrong with that provided he can return it if he has a complain after payment and receiving the watch.

Never had that policy with long's. Only thing I prepaid for was for RMs and that's when they know the piece is coming.

Yes, I have been offered 3, but I turned them all down. I’m also a long time customer and have nothing but wonderful experiences with them over the years.

I’m hopeful that I will have the piece I’ve settled on by the end of the month. Will share once it’s on my wrist.

Anyone care to chime in on what they have on display for their opening?

They have quite a large number on display including new releases. If a customer has been allocated a piece, they tend to leave it displayed briefly and then put it in the vault.
I just purchased my first today, which I will post in a separate thread. They displayed it for a private event earlier in the week and then put it in vault for me to pick up today…

I don't think it's before he can "see it," but yes they are not taking credit cards . . . bank wire or personal checks. Just a way to keep the % they pay to the cc processor.

I just purchased mine yesterday and this is correct. I did a wire. Not sure of the reason, but this is the policy at the Boutique.

There's only one reason -- they avoid paying the cc processing fee.

A wire in lieu of using a cc has been the last bastion of the 'discount' -- some retailers would give you the 2% they'd be paying the cc processor.

it's pretty awesome in there, sales associated extremely nice and wonderful to work with. The typical experience though unless you're a huge spender or have an extensive history with longs you aren't getting anything that is desirable. I'm not a big fish so it's been awesome to be offered some watches just nothing that has truly caught my eye yet.

Requesting wire only gives me the ick. This is a luxury purchase, eat the 2%, your margins can handle it. Nickel and diming customers who will spend hundreds of thousands if not millions at your store is really lame.

I was asked to wire or use debit card for my submariner purchase - many AD's do it.
