Excellent write-up and very informative. I understand that Rolex switched from 316L to 904L stainless steel in the mid- to late 90s. What little I was able to find inferred that initially only cases were 904L and later bracelets were changed over to 904L as they are today.
Do you have any information as to when Rolex started incorporating 904L in the GMTII line and is there a way to tell on the bracelet? Thanks |

Amazing post! I was directed here after posting about an early 90s 16710 I saw at a jeweler today. The bracelet felt much flimsier than the 78760 on my M series Yacht-Master. Would a more recent 16710 have a bracelet similar (or same minus no PCLs) as my YM?

Hi and great info. I like the open 6 9 date wheels and was wondering which was the last GMT models to come with them. For instance does the 16700 have it?
Thx |

I'm pretty sure only the very early ones have the open 6 date wheel. I have an N serial and the 6 is closed.

Fun fact; Rolex used to source their 316L from Sandvik in Sweden before making their own 904L alloy in-house. HTH |

Super helpful Springer. Not sure why I couldn't find this earlier in the week when searching 16710 but happy to have stumbled on it now after you commented on my recent post.

Just wondering if same tube and crown fits both 1675 and 16750?

I've been digging in to learn about GMTs. So many models, variations. This guide is helpful in choosing. I'm after a 16760 Fat Lady. I'll let you know when she sings!
