Congrats and good to hear you got the Daytona at an AD with MSRP pricing and not $35k. So it can happen at an AD and not impossible. How many Rolex watches did you buy from your sale lady?

Excellent story. Congratulations. My faith has been restored at just the right moment. At a little over two years into what might be a three to four year wait for a simple Sub I was hovering on the thought of a grey. No longer. I’ll sit it out. I can just imagine the experience of getting your grail from the AD.

I have been lusting after his watch for a long time. I’m not the only one, it seems like every second WIS wants this one too.

My Rolex journey has been great so far, I have picked up some great pieces, WG blue dial Daytona, WG Pepsi, YG blue dial sub and others. However my grail has always eluded me and I have resigned myself to a long wait. One week ago I posted that I wanted a new piece and I didn’t want to wait around for my Rolex AD to call, so I pulled the trigger on a Vacheron overseas dial time just a few days ago.

That brings me to today .....

I got home from a big bike ride, 100 kms, sore, tired and hungry. All I wanted was some carbs and a nap. But my wife wanted to take me out for lunch. Driving into the city, my AD called and asked me if my wife was happy with a TT DJ that I bought her just recently. I said she was but that we were a little annoyed that when resizing the watch the assistant damaged a link. She insisted that I bring the watch in so she could check it for herself. I replied that as chance should have it, we were close by so we would drop over in 20 minutes before lunch.

After a couple of minutes of small talk, my lovely AD took my wife’s DJ away to check it with a colleague. Upon her return, she placed the display tray down in front of us. Next to my wife’s watch, was my grail ....

The Daytona SS 116500 LN

I was set up by two wicked but beautiful women! My jaw hit the ground and I didn’t know how to react, I think I said “OMG” maybe 25 times and laughed like an idiot for several minutes.

Anyway, it is amazing, I have it finally and I couldn’t be happier.

Here it is ..... it is just beautiful, more than I thought it would be. Sorry for the rant, enjoy the pics, and yes I did get my carbs in the end too

AJ, I had almost lost faith too.
I read here a thousand times the stories of AD games etc and I was starting to believe it.
Hang on for a bit longer, there are certainly genuine ADs out there.
