Had my DSSD about 6 months now & it's not going anywhere! no way I'd trade it for a Sub or SD4000!!!

But its about what makes you happy & they are all great watches :)

Yeah, it's taller but I would say you really should try it on to see if that extra 3mm means much to you.

Thanks for the thoughts, guys. Rolex's line of divers only has true winners... be it a DSSD, a SDc, a Sub date or a Sub, it's all about finding the right one for you, which is what my story in the OP was about.

Life's too short to not be with your one true love. I just hope you don't start calling Ms. Deep for late nite quickie wrist shots after a night out of drinking with the boys!

I get your mentality. Gotta love the one you're with. For me it is the domed crystal that gets me every time.

At least you now know it wasn't for you, and there's no more wondering to be bothered with.

Besides, the 114060 is one fantastic watch as well!

I'll have to do my best to keep her as a fond memory only!

There's nothing like that peace of mind, Rob. Regardless, both watches are amazing!

I too regretfully said goodbye to my DSSD recently after sticking it out for a year and finally admitting it was just too big for me.

It was fun while it lasted, but it just wasn't to be. Thanks for the good times, DSSD...

I remember trying to hook up with a cheap watch I picked up in Chinatown one night and I ended up with a bad case of "ticks"... lol! I guess that's what you get for strapping one on while intoxicated...

That's the great thing about this hobby, there is something that will hit the sweet spot for everyone.

The Sub is and always will be the classic diver.

You know, that picture of yours was actually one of the photos which made me go for the DSSD in the first place. Alright, it's settled. I blame you for all this!

Albeit a short one. I suppose I better explain.

I first purchased a SubC date and had the watch for a little over a year. I thought I needed a date back then, but the cyclops always bothered me. Having toyed with the idea of modding the watch with a clean crystal, I finally opted to flip the 116610 for a 114060. This was an instant symmetrical love, but the DSSD was always at the back of my mind, and it kept lurking there, slowly growing on me. I then caved and flipped the Sub for a DSSD. This from someone who never considered himself a flipper. Ha.

I owned the DSSD for about 3 months, and tried to wear it as much as possible. It proved to be a fantastic weekend piece for me, but I truly wanted the star diver in the collection to be my daily. I had no problem with the diameter of the watch, but it's height (thickness) and weight bothered me constantly when I wore the watch for prolonged periods.

Well, I finally decided to admit it wasn't working and had the "it's not you, it's me" talk with my DSSD. I'm swallowing my pride and running back to my 114060 like the guy who finally figured out he should never have let that foxy lady get away. I hope she takes me back.

Anyways, when I think back, I really have no regrets on all the flipping - having experienced these three watches, and not only for a brief time at an AD, is what allowed me to finally make my mind about which diver was perfect for me.

Thanks a lot, DSSD, I hope we can stay friends

Thats a great story n thanks for posting. Me myself is looking for yet the experience of owning the msgnificient dssd. With my small wrist i still havent made up my mind to actually buy the beast. But the new recent dssd may push the decision.
