I really think the gmt is a nicer watch for most people not needing the water resistance...blnr is one of the best modern references in my book.

I got the BLNR first, then a SubC and then others but of my Rolex / Tudor watches this is the order of how much wrist time they get.

BLNR > Explorer > DaytonaC > Tudor Sub > BBN > SubC. For me the GMT function is more important than any of the other complications / features of the others. But that is my preference and my experience with them.

Go with your gut. Choosing a watch is a personal, emotional decision and you shouldn't choose based on what other people think.

The BLNR is very, very cool. But if you want a sub, no other watch will scratch that itch, no matter how cool.

I’d get the BLNR ... in case you don’t like it you can
flip it much easier without a loss for the sub date ln ...
If you get the sub date ln first and go the other way
you might lose a little on the sub ... your call

The GMT is a less ‘square’ looking watch than the sub because the lugs have more taper.

I’m a HUGE GMT fan, but regardless of what everyone else thinks, but the one you want the most. BLNR’s aren’t impossible to find if you want one later down the road.

I was looking at both watches but when the HK AD told me that they had a BLNR available it was an easy decision. Also the GMT function is great as I travel alot between Asia and Europe.

Love the GMTs but out of the two I would get the Sub. The BLNR just doesn't do it for me personally , & as others have already posted, for the money you will be paying out I would never buy a watch without trying it on the wrist first .

I love my BLNR but completely down to personal preference. One thing to note, on the BLNR the centre links on the bracelet are polished as opposed to the submariner when the whole bracelet is matte. Its only a subtle difference but just worth mentioning

My 2 cents: BLNR is very sought after since it is rare and goes for over MSRP used. If I were you I'd get BLNR for MSRP and see if you like it, if you don't like it after half a year you can always sell it for more than price you bought it for and get a Submariner.

I agree. Sounds like the BLNR wasn't even a consideration until the AD offered it to the OP.

I like the GMT. It can do basically all the things a Sub can do (waterproof, stop watch) but you also get the GMT hand and the more interesting bezel. But in the end you need to put it on and see what your heart tells you.

Did you try a sub in yet? Go to AD and try the watch on. I wanted a sub at first but when I was at my AD I tried a sub on and felt the caseback was too big/thick. Tried the GMT on and felt it fit me perfect.

Get the watch that sings for you, although in your case that’s not the easiest thing to so. After all, the Submarine has always sang out to you, but a whiff of BLNR and things shifted.

Maybe that means that it’s the BLNR that IS singing to you ...

In my opinion, I would get the BLNR. It is a rarer and sought after reference, meaning that if you happened not to like it you could get your money back easily. With the shortage of Professional models, it will be difficult getting certain references. This obviously includes the Submariner, but it will be much easier getting a LN Submariner than it would be getting a BLNR or LVc Sub.

I would get the BLNR. Made the same decision by the way - wanted a Milgauss GV for personal reasons, but when the AD offered me a BLNR I couldn’t refuse. After all, I knew I could always get a Milgauss.

It is easier to get a LN Submariner than it is a BLNR.

Get the GMT, it’s a nicer watch and you can easily move it and replace with a sub if you’re not pleased.

Agreed. Very subtle.

However the sub will go with more colors & clothes.

BLNR is spectacular in pictures but when I had one on I just didn't like the blue/black bezel as much as I thought I would. To each his own, but just because it's all the rage here doesn't mean it'll be what you are hoping for. But you can get it, check it out, and easily sell it for what you paid, maybe a bit more if you keep stickers on, then get the Sub.
