I'm a bit late to this thread. Although I love the look of forged carbon I'm really not convinced by its durability. My AD has for sale a fc GP....the owner claims to have worn it just twice but it looks like its done a tour in Afghanistan.
I've got a carbon mountain bike and that really is rock hard, forged carbon just looks a bit flimsy and plastic. |

The GPs were earlier examples of forged carbon, and their cases were more prone to fraying; AP has since perfected the process, and current FC cases are rock solid.
Also, not for nothing, but you have no idea how that GP you viewed was worn. Just sayin'. Regards, Adam |
