Interesting. I just figured out what that T on the 5517 Dial stands for and or represents “ radioactive tritium“. These sure as hell command a premium. I would be sick to my stomach. I can only imagine what was spent. Now I am even more curious as to what happened.

It's perhaps the seller's identity and comments / actions following this thread which might be of interest to many.
Frontier is a pledge member and has been on the forum as recently as today, so we might hope for an update at some point.

Anything? I am assuming the silence probably isn't a good sign.

Frontier still seems to show "5517 milsub" in his posting signature.
I would certainly welcome an update as to what transpired.

Me too. New to this thread, but it's fascinating. Mainly because I recognize a dealer's name that someone I had met at a TZ event had joined. But also because I bought two fake watches and learned to be careful about internet sellers.

I wouldn’t expect a reply. Someone is going to lose a lot of money here. Either the poster or the person that sold it to him. It’s going to be a very expensive mistake for someone.
The person that profitted will be long gone with the money.

Frontier can tell us what happened when he spoke with the person who sold it to him. If the seller has said that they believe the watch to be correct then there may be much more to be discussed. Frontier appears to be a regularly active member and still has the 5517 in his signature, if that means anything. Clearly there are many members who are following this and waiting to read developments.

If I was the seller I would probably make non-disclosure part of a repayment deal...just saying!!

Maybe it hasn't been settled yet and even if it has with a nondisclosure I'm sure the seller is only interested in keeping his name out of this story. So nothing preventing OP from informing us of any results if there are any.

I'm not sure how enforceable any non-disclosure agreement would be under the circumstances, but even if it were the case Frontier could return and say something: "The matter is now resolved and I have removed 5517 from my signature" or whatever was appropriate. Alternatively, if the seller stands by the watch and his description of it then we might expect further dialogue here.

Besides other factors such as hands and case, that lume looks(at least to my eyes) very similar to the relume of the now infamous 1675. It would be surreal if the same characters were involved.

The watch is fake. Of course no one wants to stand by it and take responsible. It’s a game of passing the problem on to someone else. The person that initially got paid for it being original the first time is likely long gone not responding. So then there’s just to decide who will be the loser. The person sitting with the problem right now wont be interested in disclosing that because that would make it even harder to grt out of the problem.
It’s just another sad story.

And if he was successful to unload it I wouldn’t be surprising if that involved him not to disclose details. Or if he still has it and is negotiating to get out of it or even worse; he’s still stuck with it. There’s many scenarios where he doesn’t benefit from making this public. It wasn’t even him that started the discussion. He was just happy to show his ”nice” milsub.

I am finally able to report back on the MilSub 5517. After having the watch inspected with the guidance of my attorney and insurance company it was in fact determined to not be what was represented when I purchased it. After three months of litigation I just settled the lawsuit which included an amicable recovery and required executing an NDA.
Thank you to members here for bringing this to my attention and for pointing out the discrepancies.

Well the good news is you were made whole and glad to hear it. The bad news is that whoever sold you the fake remains unknown waiting for his next prey. The fact that you had to litigate speaks volumes of this person.
Again congratulations!! It could have ended the opposite way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
