No. DD YG + DaytonaC more interesting than two DDs (YG + DD36 Platinum).

For those who think Daytona is pure hype, remember it's not possible for Daytona to ever fall below MSRP. It has never and it'll never, Rolex will make sure of that. If the prices are falling little, the supply will be restricted and prices will go up again. Rolex is pro in such matters, the folks who are waiting for hype die are not!

I like the Platinum DD better than the SS Daytona-C. Money wise I do not know where you are on the Daytona but if it was at retail you could leverage your luck for a more significant watch. I understand the Daytona hype and I, on occasion have been swept up in it, and have owned all of the models from the Platinum, YG, RG, TT and SS. It is not for me until I fall under the spell again and try to make it work, only to sell/trade it again. Good luck and buy what you desire and can afford.

Not a chance. The Daytona C is far more interesting.

unless I'm way off here I'm thinking there's like a 30k difference in value ? at msrp at least.
but money aside, i'd go DD anyway. both great watches though so you can't go wrong

I would not trade for 36mm Day Date...

However, 40mm PT blue dial - Different conversation.

That scratch I would itch ASAP.

Hang onto that Daytona. PM watches are easy to come by and trend toward 50% MSRP.

Typical PM Rolex bought at MSRP will lose $3,000+ in sales tax, $10,000 in instant depreciation as the models can be bought for less than MSRP from resellers. Call up DavidSW and ask his buy price on a gently used DDII or DD40 (which in 5-10 will be the DDII when the new shiny thing comes out). Remain seated if calling about a platinum one.

Those are your instant losses when you walk out of the AD. Very few will appreciate from there. Of course you may be luckier than the average person.

I assume you mean a 36mm? I can’t imagine anyone is dumb enough to straight swap out of their PT DD40 for a steel Daytona...

a yg dd40 is 36.5k and they sell for 28-29k used, so 10k less than msrp+tax if you go used. a 15-20 year old day date 36 is a bit over 50% but they were sold at a much lower msrp so its a different story

I like the 4130 movement, but the Daytona design is just overrated. I'd choose a platinum DD every time.

Keep the Daytona . When the watch was first released there was a lack of interest. For the last thirty years the Daytona is going strong .

If you're swapping two watches like that is it just because they are Rolex brand at similar price? It's no problem either way, just interested in what drives the decision as they are both vastly different designs. The interest by others doesn't matter if you don't worry about selling it in the future.

I prefer the platinum day date in the larger 40mm sizes so I wouldn't do it for the 36mm model.

I have many Daytona C, steel and gold, I would do it immediately.
Can you say witch color would be the Dial for the Platinum DD?
I love the black one.

if it is a straight trade then yes, especially if box and papers are involved.

I think i'd probably do it if it's like a straight swap.

But real world, I still think there'd have to be a pretty decent price gap between the two. Unless I was just selling to Daytona to make a huge profit off the market, I feel like realistically, I think the Daytona and YG DD make a better pair than to drop another $20k to have two DDs.

As others have said its a DD36 right?

If someone is stupid enough to trade you a DD40 plat for your SS Daytona go run IMMEDIATELY to them and DO IT NOW.
