No, but you might consider going to bed earlier.

My GMT flipped over at 00:00:03 last night but I'm rarely up that late. In fact, I've never checked it before. I was pleasantly surprised.

not sure, i'm usually asleep when the switch takes place. That being said, i'm not too concerned if the date switches at midnight on the dot or a few minutes after

I don't recall Rolex ever having said that the change is exactly at midnight, only that the change is instantaneous.

Your sarcasm is offensive and unappreciated.

Interesting, all of my watches have been Chrono's, so the Submariner I recently purchased was my first mechanical with a date.

Was fascinated, still am, if I'm up to watch what time it flips to next day. As I mentioned previously, without fail, within 20 seconds before or 20 seconds after, it switches, usually I watch it flip with +/- 5 seconds, was actually amazed it is so exact.

I have to admit I'm very disappointed.

In general all mine flip within +/- 5 minutes!!! I'll live with it.

Hi DylanFoxI'm MeganFox🤦
My advice is to leave it until your first service then make your request to the RSC. A moderately skilled watchmaker should be able to open the case, remove the movement, remove the hands, reset the hands so that the flip is close to midnight, then reassemble and get it pressure tested. Did you know that in the past pre-METAS era, the Omega brand specs tolerances for date change were pretty sloppy and loose, allowing date change to be +/- 10 minutes of midnight? Now most pro watchmakers will tell you that is unacceptable so they try to get it much closer to midnight within a few minutes.Instantaneous flip at midnight is the luck of the draw. I'm outta here

I wonder if at servicing, RSC or and independent, will set the movement a little more accurately - as a special requests.

Blimey not up at midnight, none of you guys work shifts?!!! Must just be me then

One of the wonderful quirks of mechanical watches I think is the date changing at “near to midnight “ though I have always wondered why my submariner can run consistently 4 mins fast but not consistently on time I find that weird.

Rolex did not only say at midnight, but at the stroke of midnight, at least for the DD:

Offensive though? Come on friend.

I generally find myself appreciating your input on TRF, but in this case, really it's just a watch, being offended over what the guy said about Rolex is personalizing it a bit much.

Get a FP journe. They switch exactly on the second ;-) Even the perpetual calender changes at an instant. The story goes that FP Journe looked at high speed video recordings until he was satisfied that the day, date and month changed the moment the secondhand reach 12... Amazing feat!!

Well, I gave a genuine reaction to your comment about Rolex and their standards and I stand by it.

You know what I'm speaking of.

Thanks for the clarification regarding the advertisement.

My Day-Date turns at 00:06, which is perfect as then hands do not cover the day window. My BLNR at 00:04, My Submariner at 00:02, Sky-Dweller at 00:01, Deepseas both at 00:03.

And the best one is my absolute favorit watch, Explorer II. It changes every single night during 00:00. I am often up that late with my iPad so when i hear the ’tick’ iPad shows the time 00:00.

My DJ is about 30 seconds early, my Explorer II is about 1 minute late. I had always hoped that it would be right on the nose, but It’s close enough so I’m not complaining.

Not to worry. If it changes at 12 noon, you should probably bring it in for a service. : )

It wasn’t my comment. And if there’s some history between you two I’m not aware of it.

Anyway they are supposed to flip exactly at midnight and don’t. End of the world? No, but it’s not wrong to expect more from Rolex.

Pretty disappointing actually from an astronomically priced $12,000 watch!

My $1,500 Oris flips at 00:00:05.

I understand exactly how it works. I’ve removed and set hands on movements before.

Well I know for sure the Rolex movement is well capable of better. Are Rolex technicians less careful working on a $12,000 piece than Oris technician working on $1,500 piece? Like I said: pretty disappointing.
