At least they allow a list. In Vancouver, it's no dice unless you buy some DJs and DDs at full pop before you are granted the opportunity to potentially purchase one. The Subs, Black GMT, Explorer, AK are obtainable within 2-3 AD shipments on average.

Just FYI. Sad state of affairs.

Sad state of affairs. The AD then has many, many thousands of dollars invested in "display" pieces that they can't sell? And also that cash money, on the spot buyers can't buy? Awesome !!!

This whole thing is nauseating.

Raffi at Yorkdale did the same thing until a couple of weeks ago. They sold all their SS pieces they had on display (whereas, before were stopping clients from purchasing).

The Yorkdale location was doing the same for Tudor BB58 and the GMT. I was unimpressed by the treatment I got given I have bought from both locations before.

I'll second that! I bought my latest Rolex at RdV last year and the staff were much friendlier and more knowledgable than at Raffi.

That's one of the worst situations I've ever heard!

The watches are on display, not for sale but kept in hopes a 'regular customer' *might, perhaps, possibly...maybe* want to try one on? Yet a fellow, cash in hand, ready, willing and able to buy one immediately is turned down. That's absolutely idiotic. As a business practice it's simply stupid and financially damaging and really inconsiderate to show people items with the express purpose of *not selling* the item. It's like they're saying: "check out these watches we have, nice huh? Oh wait: you're not good enough to buy one." I would never wish 'harm' on anyone but I wish them the worst.

Rant over.
Mark

Sales person at Raffi SQ1 told me they get offered well over list price for their display watches all the time but they are not allowed to sell.

I’m not fond of that practice but dummy models would be problematic because everyone would realize they really want xyz as it wears so nice but then get angry they would never be able to get one at list.

If you can’t deliver it, don’t tease it to your customers. It’s also the problem with current Basel release parties.

Lots of cocky pricks at jewelry stores right now. Same with high end car dealers. It will pass.

Have made purchases at Raffi and RdV, and definitely sticking the latter.
Out of curiosity, went to Raffi's on Thursday, if anyone's interested, they have multiple Tudor GMTs and a BB58 on display. When I tried to get them to budge on the BB58, they said that it would take 2-3 months to get one in.
Certainly a stark contrast to 3 years ago when I was able to walk in off the street with no previous buying history and pick up an SS Daytona after some banter with the salesman.
